moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
What finger/table foods are you giving your DC?
I got a comment yesterday how I am not giving them table/finger foods yet. When I give them puffs, they somethings gag or yesterday one of DDs throw up. Ped said to start table foods.

Re: moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
DD is 7 1/2 months and I'll let her suck/take bites off of a peach (after peeling skin off), plum, etc. She also has puffs and cheerios. It takes time for them to get used to the texture, that's why they are gagging. But I don't see a need to rush it. My doctor told me I can start giving her hard boiled egg yolk, and then scrambled eggs. I have yet to try because I hate cooking!

Re: moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
I give Steven fruit in the Safer Teether. Tiny pieces of cheese, puffs, pastina. I think that's about it. I've tried giving him cheese two weeks ago, and he wouldn't take it. Yesterday he took it and loved it. Just keep trying. I am sooooo afraid of choking and that is why I don't give him that much. Iknow, I too have to step it up a notch.

Re: moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
I've tried pieces of banana, the puffs (which they're pros at), cheese, nectarines and peaches. They're not totally picking up the pieces and feeding themselves but they're slowly getting the hang of it. They're cautious of textures and tend to gag/choke so I'm reluctant to do it too often.

I started with the puffs & cherios, then moved onto fruit in the baby safe feeder, now i give them little chunks of banana, bread, small pasta.

Re: moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
I do banana, blueberries (cut up), bread, kernels of corn, puffs, rice, green beans, broccoli and the other night little pieces of pork chops.
I usually give her whatever we are eating - I just make sure that it is small enough and I don't give her processed stuff or things with butter, salt or sugar.

Re: moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
Thanks ladies.
Tonight I gave them Stage 3 jar of Pasta Primevra. they loved it. It took a long time, but they were chewing away. they only gagged in the very beginning until they got used to the soft pasta. I have to try scrambled eggs with weekend. I think that will open up some new adventures.

Re: moms of 8-9 month olds: feeding question
I give DD bananas (I let he bite off pieces of the whole banana while I hold it), puffs, animal crackers (broken into little pieces), pieces of goldfish, crusty bread and pastina. To try to transition her to different textures, I have started making and roughly mashing some foods like sweet potato & white potato. I also make my own applesauce and peach/plum mixture. I chunk them up, cook them and mash a little bit so there are still lots of soft chunks. She loves it all!!!
My ped also said that I could do egg yolk but I think alone the egg yolk is too dry and pasty for a baby. I'll wait until he says I can do scrambled eggs.
