Moms of babies on Reflux Meds
What is your DC on, how often, what dose and how old is your DC?
DS is on zantac 2x a day. He is not uncomfortable at all anymore which is great, but lately (the last month) he is spitting up regularly. He never used to spit up. We just upped his meds to 2ml. BUt it hasnt done anything to help with the spit up.
So I am just curious what everyone else is taking.
Thanks!

DS was on Zantac. I found out that the slightest weight gain effects it from working properly. So it does need to be adusted accordingly.
We also, used Mylanta 3 times a day and he was on Alimentum - which was the winning combination that helped DS in the end.

Re: Moms of babies on Reflux Meds
As PP's said, zantac is weight sensitive so the dosage may need to be adjusted. However, zantac (or any other medicine) will not really stop the spitting up. As long as he is comfortable and gaining weight the ped and/or GI will likely call it a laundry issue.
My 1st DD spit up until 11 months. DD # 2 is 15 months and on prevacid and still vomits regularly, but her reflux is pretty severe.

DD is on Pepcid twice a day. She seems to feed a little better and doesn't arch her back as often but she still spits up. It comes out like curdled milk and smells like vomit! Pretty nasty!

Re: Moms of babies on Reflux Meds
DD is almost 4 months and she is on Axid 1ml 3x a day, also weight sensitive which is a pain because she does good for like a week or two then starts all over. She also spits up all the time but Dr said meds wont help with the spitting up.

Re: Moms of babies on Reflux Meds
DD is 2.5 months and on Zantac since her last appointment (2 Month Appt). She takes 1.0 ML 2X a day. At first she stopped spitting up but now she is back to spitting up pretty regularly. She is definitely a lot more comfortable though and she is a happy spitter so I am not too concerned.

Re: Moms of babies on Reflux Meds
Thanks everyone. My first DS was a happy spitter upper, so I am not concerned with teh whole laundry issue. DS1 was not on any meds and was happy as a clam so we never thought twice about it.
DS2 was put on zantac at 4 weeks due to painful reflux and the zantac totally helps with that...we havent had any issues of pain since he started it. but hte spitting up is new so I wasnt sure if bc he is on the meds he shouldnt be spitting up at all or what. We just upped his dose on 8/19 due to the increase in spit up.
Thanks again!
