Re: Mom's of baby's around 6 months?

I responded with rocked in arms, but I can't exactly remember when I started CIO. I think I started right around the 7 month mark.

Best thing I have ever done for the both of us.

I just lay her down in her crib now, turn on her music and mobile lights, and off to sleep she goes.... On her own...

Since he's been in the crib (since about 12wks) I've always nursed him in the glider, switched from breast to paci, then when he starts to drift off I get up and rock him in my arms for a minute and put him in the crib - awake, but settled down. He usually (not always!) is out on his own within 10-minutes of a little rolling around/babbling.

Ditto, only for naps she could nap on our bed or the crib.

Re: Mom's of baby's around 6 months?

we never really had a problem with ds going down for the night. But we'd start off rocking him while giving him his last bottle. Then we'd put him down awake and he'd go to sleep.

Naps were a lot harder. We finally did CIO at 5 1/2 months after we'd have to walk around the house bouncing him until he was asleep.

Now he goes down with no problems at all for naps. Chat Icon

Since this week he was in our bed. We cosleeped completely.

Now we are working on CIO. Slow progress, but it seems to be working.

I sit in the glider with my DD and sing her one short song (under a minute) and then put her into her crib wide awake. She has no problem going right to sleep. The song in the chair is more of a transition thing for her. If I just drop her in the crib she gets upset, but I think the song in the chair signals to her that it's time for sleep and then she has no problem.

ditto....and really since maybe 8 wks i did the feed play sleep routine....which boats about looking for "tired signs" which i do and i immediately put her down.....yawns....rubbing her eyes....arching her back....cranky/fussiness along with any of these other signs ...works since 8 wks....before that it was her having to fall asleep in our arms,,,now she wont fall asleep in our arms at all

Re: Mom's of baby's around 6 months?

i stand by the crib at night 1st reading a book and then singing 1-2 songs he then falls asleep it takes usually 15-20 min. naps are much harder, sometimes i rock him to sleep, sometimes i give bottle, sometimes he does not nap at all or only for half an hour. sometimes i put him in pnp or our bed for naps, he wont nap in his crib which is wierd although he sleeps pretty well at night in it.

Re: Mom's of baby's around 6 months?

With DD for naps she start to get whiny thats when i know she is tired. She likes to sleep in her carseat during the day so i just put her down there and she goes right to sleep. Sometimes i have to rock the carseat a bit during naptime for her to go to sleep though. At night i nurse her to sleep she goes in her bassinett i giver her the paci and she goes to sleep.

crib only from day one--self soothe. we never rocked him to sleep because we didn't want to have to break him of the habit
