moms of children with milk allergy...yogurt question
The pediatrician mentioned trying yogurt but I'm terrified!
Has anyone tried the soy yogurt?

Re: moms of children with milk allergy...yogurt question
My DS has a milk allergy and we actually found out he did the first time I gave him yogurt. He was covered in hives all over his body. Now we give him So Delicious Coconut Milk yogurt. It is soy and dairy free. I buy it at stop and shop and he loves it. It's usually on sale 2/$3

We use Stoneyfield soy. It's reasonably prices, tastes the most like dairy, it's consistency is similar. They also make six packs like the Yo baby.

I used TJ's soy yogurt until she was a year. I think Stonyfield's soy yogurt contains milk. Oddly enough, many soy products contain milk. Kind of defeats the purpose

Re: moms of children with milk allergy...yogurt question
I tried yobaby at 7 months with DS, I gave him a tiny bit at first and he was fine with it, no gas, no pooping issues -- so we gave him more. Now at 10 months he eats one a day, he also eats cheeses.
I think it depends on each individual child, my son outgrew his allergy by now, this is according to the dr, since he can already have yogurt and cheese without a problem, but I'm still cautious when introducing other dairy products.

We give soy yogurt too. Just check the yogurt's list of ingredients b/c like a PP said some of them do contain milk!

We use WholeSoy Soy yogurt and once or twice Silk soy yogurt. We have also tried so delicious coconut yogurt.
As another one mentioned read the soy labels some soy yogurt and many soy products also contain some milk so just be careful.

DS can have cheese and butter without an issue but any other dairy and he breaks out in hives all over his face and neck. He is 17 months.
We found he was allergic to dairy when we tried yo baby yogurt at 6 months. Had hives all over his face and neck. Now, we just steer clear of yogurt altogether.

Re: moms of children with milk allergy...yogurt question
My DS seemed to have a severe reaction to milk as he didn't respond to nutramigen and it took another month to not have blood in his stool even after being on Neocate. So even though he is 7 months I'm waiting to try even soy yogurt. The dr suggested waiting until he is 9 or 10 months

Re: moms of children with milk allergy...yogurt question
We also found out about the milk allergy with yogurt. We have tried Coconut Yogurt, Stonyfield Farm Soy and Trade Joe's Soy yougurt.
The Trader Joe's was the only one he didn't vomit.
