mom's of curly haired boys & 1st haircut questions

So we are going to take Liam this weekend for his first haircut....taking this hard.

Liam has ADORABLE soft curls and I'm worried they'll go away after his haircut. Is there anyway I can go somewhere (kid place) and they can just shape them instead of giving him the standard little boy haircut?

Help!!

take it from a fellow curly haired boy mom...
his curls will grow back.

PS. dont cut it too short or you will regret it. Just tell them you want to shape it.

Yes, I agree with this. DS had SUPER curly hair when he was little - he got his hair cut starting at 16 mos and everyone said it would cut away the curls but, they always grew back. The only think is don't cut it too short b/c with curly hair it ends up looking uneven and choppy as it is growing in.

That said, at 3.5 now DS's curls have turned into waves - his hair went from being SUPER curly even at 3 to now at 3.5 hardly curly at all The problem is that his hair isn't straight either so, unless I put gel in it (whcih I only do for parties etc.) it ends up always looking messy!

I am having the same issue. DS has the most beautiful soft curls and I worry if we cut them they will be gone.

My oldest DS had the same curls and his first hair cut was during the summer. We had is buzzed short. They curls never came back. To this day if we grow his hair out (he is 8) it just sticks up. We call it his peacock hair.

honestly, i would never ever have cut his hair, but we were getting pressure from certain people I feel like whne Ds hair is short, it is so much more maintenance, it sticks up like crazy and it is harder to tame. we grow it out again each time we cut it. that is until, we start getting the comments about how his hair is too long

My DS has beautiful curly hair too and I never want to cut it. I am also nervous of them messing it up or being too short.

I have no advice since he is only 1 and we aren't cutting anytime soon. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.
