Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
I am soooooooooo behind on this! I can't believe that my DD is going to be ONE in less than 2 months! I don't know where to start. Where is everyone else with their planning? What theme (if any) are you having? Are you doing a cake smash/first birthday photos? I am debating what the right time is to do them. Any ideas on good gifts for a first birthday?
Thanks!

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
Well, I am planning my DD's 2nd b-day which is in April.
Here's a link to pictures of my DD's 1st b-day from last year - 1st b-day party
This year I chose Elmo has her theme. It was that or Minnie Mouse.
I think ride on toys are great for 1st b-days, especially for Spring. This was my DD's favorite gift from last year.
I would start by picking a theme and go from there. I did not do a cake smash bc I knew I wouldnt do anything with the pics, but I did do a regular photoshoot with Ava Jack.

DD's bday is in a few weeks. We're not having a big party- just a small lunch w cake . Only grandparents are invited. We can't afford to do more. I'm sad about it, but oh well...

DD's birthday is March 10th. We are having a family party in a restaurant on March 11th with a princess theme and a kids party the following weekend with a sweet shop theme. I did book a first year shoot - we'll do a combo of regular pictures and cake smash. I dont think you're that far behind! It can definitely be planned in under two months! Pick an easy theme where whole packages are available through etsy.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
Ds2 1st bday is may 4 th so I have slowly started on the party. Once DS1bday party is over I will really get into it. We are having a jungle safari theme. It will be at our house and I have hired jungle bob already. I have bookmarked a million things on etsy already to sort of get an idea. We will definitely be doing a cake smash shoot since we did it with our first. It really doesn't matter how close to the day you actually take them if your not using them for the party. I think we did ds1 a week before his actual bday.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DS will be 1 on April 10th. We are going to have a small party at home with family and close friends. I have chosen a baseball theme. I wasn't planning on hiring entertainment since there won't be many kids. Hopefully it will be nice out so we can do somethings outside. So far, I've only just started researching ideas. I was thinking of doing baseball park food and setting up a concession stand. I want to do a cake smash shoot, but money it tight so I don't know if we'll be able to swing it. I haven't even thought of gifts. For DD's 1st we bought her a bunch of little people sets.

Dd will be 1 in march. Not really into a big 1st bday party, theme, pro pics etc.. Got a new lens recently, so ill be taking the pics. We will have maybe 12 people at the house for dinner and cake. Don't know what we will get her just yet. Maybe a play kitchen? We are taking her to Disney in May.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DD's 1st Birthday is March 20th and we are having a party on March 24th.
I have the following booked: -Venue -Catering -Cake Smash Shoot (March 3rd)
The theme is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with a focus on Minnie and Daisy.
I am ordering her dress and hairbow from Etsy. I also found invitations and favor tags on Etsy.
As for favors, I am doing Minnie Silhouette Cake Pops and something from oriental trading for the kids (have not decided yet)
For entertainment, I am renting a bouncy house and will have my cousin dress in a Minnie Character costume that I borrowing from a friend. I am also going to load the iPOD with music and use my BOSE dock.
I am going to get the decorations from Party City.
I think that about covers it! This party is going to be but we did not christen her so I really wanted to have a big 1st birthday.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
We're keeping DD's first birthday party small since she had a bigger christening. We decided to have a winter "One"derland theme. Got her invites, ordered a cake from Lady J's with all snowflakes and penguins (sooo excited for this!) and are planning on having a number 1 shaped hero with finger foods. We are having about 30 family members over my moms house- 2 children, 3 with DD so now entertainment. We are also baking snowflake cookies and chocolate chip cookies for favors. Wish it could have been a bigger party, but unfortunately its too much $$$$ Oh and yes we booked a cake smash shoot with Mattson Photographers!! Cant wait!

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
I decided to keep it smaller this year. Bday is Feb 23 - having the party that weekend. Just the immediate family and a couple close friends (being both her godparents are friends). My older 2 sons had bigger at home 1st birthday parties but now everyone has 2-4 kids and one of those parties would just be too big for my house. I like doing the 1st birthday at home (after that I usually go outside the home).
Elmo theme. Also between that Pooh Bear and Minnie for her. Those are who she recognizes. She sings la-la-la from elmo all the time so I am going with that. Nothing too fancy. Decor to match there, Ordered invites and still waiting for their arrival. Depending on how many kids do come - I may consider a magician..being most kids are ages 4-8.
No cake smash. Sticking to the tradition of at the party - letting her eat her own big piece of cake. Will do 1st b-day pictures at Kiddie Kandids. I just like getting the ones with the number in the picture like I did for my sons to keep consistent.
Trying to get all the girlie accessories and outfit now.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
not really sure yet! DD will be one April 11. We did a big first party in our backyard for DD #1 but her birthday is in May. Right now we do not have room inside to host all those people and it will be too cold to have it outside at that point i think. I'm thinking about having just our closest family at home but still making it special and having a fun theme, like "look whooooo's one" (owls) or "april showers" and incorporating umbrellas, rain drops, rainbows into the decor. Have not really done a thing except get ideas going

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DS will be 1 on 3/24. We had so many issues with getting the date...DH doesn't want a little party at the house The place I wanted was booked, because we had problems coming up with a date so I finally booked today...for March 4th
So now I'm in panic mode
I'm waiting for DH to come home to 'approve' (like I need his approval for it, lol) the invite which I'm going to rush from tiny prints.
I'm trying to get a menu together, since I'll be cooking most (all?) of the food. Luckily BJs had a ton of coupons today for stuff that I can use for a party.
Trying to figure out a theme...or at least a decoration scheme.
AHHHH!

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DS#2 is turning 1 in March. I just started planning.
We did a big party for DS#1 with all our friends and family in NYC.
I would feel bad if we did not do the same for DS#2.
Thing is DS#1 and DS#2's birthdays are only one day apart. We are looking into doing a combined birthday party.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DS's first birthday party is on 2/18. I just started planning about 2 weeks ago and send invites out this week (thank you AngRich!!!).
We're doing a pirate theme.
I'm having it at the local Elk's club, catering Italian food, I think we're hiring a balloon twister/tatoo artist, I also have some crafts for the kids to do (painting little pirate chests for them to take home and some suncatchers) and they can play pirate dress up.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DS turns 1 at the end of March! I am having a family party at our house - about 25 adults and 15 kidsf. I am not sure on what food I am serving yet. The theme is going to be "Curious George". I am giving him a ride on quad for his gift.

Re: Moms of Feb/March/April babies - FIRST birthday planning
DS turns one on April 7th (day before easter)
We booked a brick oven pizza place in Queens, we're having about 45 people and doing a Baby Mickey theme.
That's as far as I've gotten. Not having a clown, I'm going to have my niece do face painting (she's a part time clown assistant) and I'm going to get some arts and crafts for the kids to do.
