Mom's of girls - spinoff to clothing ques

if you get an outfit that you DO NOT like, do you feel guilty not putting her in it at least once? My Mom's very good friend gave us two outfits that look like they belong at the circus Chat Icon

But...I feel bad knowing she spent money and picked them out for me. Of course I ripped off the tags and washed them! Chat Icon

Do you feel guilty??

It depends on how often I see the person. If I never see the person, then I put DD in the outfit, snap a picture and then return it. If it's someone that she might see once or twice, I'll put her in the outfit on that day and that's it.

Nope, I've gotten some awful outfits and I just never put her in them. They usually get donated.

same here....SIL got this one outfit for DDs birthday and i hate to say it but it was awful. DH was like well she should wear it once...and i said nope SIL dosent see her in half her clothes anyway so she will never know!

it was donated along with some other clothes she got...not that im not grateful for them, but if someone else can use them brand new and love them its better that way.

No, I don't feel guilty about it. I still apreciate the thought and the gift, it's just not my taste and I don't put her in it.

Re: Mom's of girls - spinoff to clothing ques

I put DD in almost everything I was given at least once so I wouldn't feel any guilt, but some things didn't fit or the outfit was too heavy/light for the season.

I really don't feel guilty if I don't like something but I do feel wasteful when things don't get used.

I actually had one woman tell me that my DD could wear the winter outfit she bought in June when she asked me if DD ever wore it. Chat Icon

Same here! We did get one outfit that I hated putting her in but it was from a dear family member who really wanted to see her in it. When I took the dress off her - I told her Mommy would never be that mean to her again!

It depends. If I just don't care for it, she will wear it. If i really can't stand it, then it gets donated. I feel bad. It hasn't happened too often. More often I get hand me downs that i don't love and then I don't feel bad giving them away.

Yes! I put DD in outfits that I dont like if I know we really arent going anywhere so I know they were worn at least once.

nope because I give them to charity. The only one I do tend to put on her even if I dont love is from in laws only because it avoids fights.

Nope not at all--lol If I don't like it she doesn't wear it. My MIL gets her clothes that I hate, so I'm sure she wonders why she never sees Julia in them, but I don't care--lol

Re: Mom's of girls - spinoff to clothing ques

As others have said, it really depends on the outfit and who gave it to her (and also whether they gave a gift receipt too or not). If it's a close family member and it does fit her (and I don't have a gift receipt), I'll put it on her for a picture I mail to them or when we'll see that person. If I do have a gift receipt (unlikely), I would probably return it.

I've put DD in some outfits for 10 min...just long enough to take a picture. This way I can show pictures to the people who bought the cloths and say "hey! You bought that!"

I just want to add though...she is still wearing her "babies first christmas" outfits. If it fits I put it on her Chat Icon

When dd was a baby I put her in outfits, took a pic and sent it along to the gift giver.

I put DD in it once and take a photo. Then I don't feel so guilty about it.
