Moms of Newborns who EBF...
My DS is now 11 weeks and I have gotten so much better with the breastfeeding. I actually like doing it now. But i dont know how long i want to do it for. I wanted to do it for 6 months but now I am thinking 9 or 10 months.
What goal have you set? and has it changed from your original goal?

Re: Moms of Newborns who EBF...
My DD is 11 weeks as well and I, too, enjoy BFing now. I never really had a goal in the beginning - I guess my goal was just to get it to actually WORK. Unfortunately, I'm returning to work when DD is 4 mos. old and that's going to throw a major kink into the whole BF thing. If I *wasn't* returning to work, I would definitely just keep going with it - maybe even up to a year! But since I think pumping at work is going to major stress me out (I'm a teacher), I am going to try to BF in the morning and afternoon/evenings, and give formula during the day. I'll hopefully do this for a while - as long as my body cooperates!
(That was quite a long-winded answer to your question, huh )

My goal with all of them was to make it to at least 1. I've accomplished that with all 3.

My DS is 4-1/2 months. My goal is (and has always been) to do it for at least 1 year.

This is how I feel too. I am returning to work Monday , DD is 11 weeks old and has been EBF up until last week when we started introducing 1 bottle of formula a day. I don't have much of a freezer stash, unfortunately. If I could stay home, I'd EBF probably until teeth started coming in, but unfortunately that's not possible. It's going to be tough for me to pump at work, I'll be lucky if I can pump once during my 9 hour day. But I'm the same, I'd love to still be able to nurse her in the morning & night, I just hope my body cooperates & allows that (she loves the night feeding right before bed, it really puts her to sleep and comforts her).

Re: Moms of Newborns who EBF...
my original goal was a year and anything after that would be considered a bonus. Josh has a milk/soy allergy...so now my plan is to nurse till his allergy hopefully disappears.
We were hoping to get pregnant again soon, but I am nervous about nursing while preggo. Especially since my kid isn't an eater, he really needs the breastmilk. I was so sick while carrying josh, I don't think my body can handle nursing fulltime while pregnant. If it was just a morning nursing/night nursing I think I could do it.
long answer but I consider it a huge accomplishment and i normally don't pat my own back but with this I give myself a standing ovation in the mirror
I think its great to have goals...its great to celebrate your accomplishments. At 6 months, DH and Josh threw me a little "she's the best mom in the world" party
I think its amazing that you deliver in the hospital not knowing how this whole thing is going to work. Everyday should be celebrated.
I am really glad you guys enjoy it. I should try and look at it like that to. Its still really chore-y to me.

I love BFing now, it was hell to begin with but its so cool now. I hope to be able to do it at least 6 mos but if I get into a groove with work and all then I will definitely keep going.

Re: Moms of Newborns who EBF...
My goal with both kids was/is to EBF till they are a year old and then wean off to whole milk, since 12 month is when they can start on cow's milk.
That's exactly what I did/am doing!

Re: Moms of Newborns who EBF...
My original goal was to pump and to BF for 6 mths. I ended up not pumping and EBF for 1 year. My dd is 19mths now and she BF's morning and night and drinks cows milk during the day. So my goals were way off...there is no way i imagined BF at this stage but its working out for both of us so we will stay at it until she decides thats it...hopefully before her second birthday though as I would like to start TTC by then.
