Re: moms of toddler girls , maybe even boys , let me ask you something (getting dressed/outfit related)
My 4 year old can sometimes be a total PITA to dress. I usually pick out 3 or 4 things and she picks one.

This is why I loooove jeans - they go with everything DD is too little to pick out her clothes, but I allow DS to pick out his shirt if he doesn't like what I have chosen. You can't mismatch with jeans, and since I buy all his clothes, he can't pick out a shirt I don't like
For DD, when she gets older, I'll stick to the same plan of jeans as well as dresses, to avoid mismatching.

My 3 yo DD likes to pick her own clothes and dress herself. Depending on what we are doing, if we are staying home or she's going to school, I sometimes change her or have her pick something else

DD is almost 3 and she's becoming increasingly a PITA to get dressed. I pick out her clothes, but she fights me on clothes sometimes. I try to give her a choice b/t 2 things so she feels she has some control.

I pick out the clothes for my 4 year old. She's pretty easy going. I will let her choose sometimes, but she really does care...she likes to look cute, but I buy clothes that I know she will like since since she's pretty easy going about clothes.

BTW, there is a girl in my daughter's and it took me a while to figure out why she always looks like a homeless person: she must be allowed to pick out her own clothes...
haha, DD has someone like that in her class too, this kid wears clothes that look PJs to school, drives me crazy, lol. I try not to judge, but it's soooooo hard sometimes ! that is what happens when DH dresses the girls
DD#1 who is now 5 is pretty easy, and for the most part wore whatever i picked out for her up until her "i only want to wear dresses" phase (which she is still in partly).
DD#2 on the other hand is a PITA when it comes to getting dressed lately. she has picked up on her sister's "i only want to wear dresses" phase and won't let it go. DD#1 i can convince to wear something else with minimal push back, DD#2 will more likely than not have an all out fit (a general trend these days though )
i buy clothes for my girls. sometimes when we are out i will ask them what they like but they are not really that interested. online they just want everything. so i compromise with them here and there. i'll ask them what they want to wear today and the usual answer is "dress"...i then give them 2 or three choices based on weather and hope for the best!

same here-i rarely let her choose b/c she likes most of what i pick/buy. honestly, she has her whole life to pick her clothes (as long as i approve ) i just don't want her looking like a mismatched sloppy mess.

DS either gets a choice of 2 outfits or 1 shirt and I pick out the pants - he's almost 4.

I usually pick out their clothes because they don't really care, but sometimes they are very adamant about wearing (or not wearing) something in particular and I let them choose. IF they wanted to choose their clothes everyday I wouldn't care as long as it was weather appropriate. I think they should be able to express themselves that way.

DD is 2 and she picks out what she wants to wear for the most part.
there are certain battles i will fight and this is not an important one.
on school days i give her a choice of 2-3 outfits. and on off days its whatever she wants.
i grew up with the freedom of wearing whatever i wanted to wear, and choosing my own clothes, so DD can do the same.
i do draw the line on character clothes in public. character clothes are for in the home only, and DD knows that.

Well, DS is only 17 months, but I can tell you he will not be picking out what he wears until he is MUCH older (like teenage years, lol). However, I do give him a choice between 2 different sets of pj's every night. We've been doing that since he was about 9 months old.
ETA: As he gets older, I will let him choose between 2 outfits that I lay out for him.

I lay out their clothes the night before most nights, but on weekends my older DD gets herself dressed most of the time and she does a good job of picking out outfits, sometimes things I wouldn't put together she does and looks cute.
