Re: Moms that are home
I am a sahm of 3 and in the past did a million mommy and me's. I just had a winter baby. I cooped myself up for a week and wanted to jump out the window. Honestly, I go out. I cover the baby in public places so no one breathes on him. Also, the weather hadn't been too bad over the past few weeks, so I went for a few walks. I have many sahm friends from my first LO, so I hang out with them at my house.

Re: Moms that are home
The first month or two is so much different than when they are slightly older. I have some amazing friends who would call me from work on their staggered lunch breaks to give me adult human conversation, every day. They made appointments with me so I did not feel isolated. I am super grateful for that. I also gave birth in the summer and early fall for my kids, which I think gave me a huge advantage. I took my kids out for walks at about a week old because the weather was really nice. I don't know how moms of winter newborns do it because in the winter I don't feel like it is as great to take a newborn out for walks.
I created a schedule for myself. Even at two weeks old you can get your DC on a schedule. While DH was home before he left for work, I would shower and get dressed. Baby wakes up, nurse, change he diaper, put on new clothing for the baby.
Go downstairs and put baby into the bouncer on the floor. I would have breakfast and talk to the baby.
I would put the baby in the bijorn, and clean up from breakfast. Then I would walk around the house talking to the baby and point things out and say the names of the parts of the house, or parts of the body, or sing songs.
Then, I would put the baby in the swing and while the baby would swing, I would read a few books to the baby.
By this point it was usually time to feed the baby. I would diaper the baby and if needed a new outfit. Then I would talk to friends on speaker. It was nice to have adult conversations. Then we would go out and do errands, or classes or just for a walk.

Re: Moms that are home
For some reason, my babies all had terrible reflux. The whole day was spent trying to keep them quiet and happy. I was never bored but just so exhausted. Maternity leave is very different than being a SAHM! Once they hit the 5-6 month range I was able to keep busy.
