Moms that had epidurals
Have you had any pain in the spot where the needle was?
I didn't have an epi with DS, but when I had DD in 05 I did. Lately I've been having pain there, and it feels as if a needle is still in there poking me almost. Is this a normal side effect to it?

Re: Moms that had epidurals
I had a spinal and I had no pain at all --- except for maybe 4 random times - when I felt shooting pains up and down my spine. They came and went pretty quickly - but they hurt enough to freak me out.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
I had an epidural with my d&c. The spot was definitely sore for quite a while afterwards, but I wouldn't call it "pain".

Re: Moms that had epidurals
Mine was sore for a couple of weeks.
And then months later - it felt a little strange to be for a couple of days and then that was it.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
I had a spinal and never had any pain. But I do know that this topic has been posted before and there are ladies who have ongoing pain in the area where they got the epi, even years afterwards.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
nope...no pain at all, just when they took the tape off, felt like my back was getting waxed. I think that was more painful than the epidural itself

Re: Moms that had epidurals
Well, I had the most terrifying and horrible experience because of my epidural while in labor. I still have some spasms b/c of it too, so yes I've had side effects.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
yes, I did. Not from my first dd but from the second one, I felt pain like you described for about 6 wks after the birth.
I had to have a spinal tap 2 wks pp so I couldn't tell if it was that, or the epi that I felt, but definitely I felt some pressure in the area the needle went in. It wasn't severe pain, just an achiness where the needle was....very odd. It finally stopped around 8 wks pp.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
oh, I should add that I mentioned it to my OB and she wasn't concerned. She said she remembers feeling the same thing for the first 3 mths after her epi so I guess it's common.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
I still have pain 2 years (this Wednesday ) later. I have no doubt that it's because the anesthesiologist, or assho!e, as I like to call him, couldn't do it in 4 attempts. It took a 5th try, by another anest. to get it.

OMG doesn't it hurt like heck!! I think that was worse than the entire birth!!
I still get a little pain. Especially if I'm lying flat on my back.

Re: Moms that had epidurals
I haven't had pain like that, but I do have a prolapsed disc and I fully believe that is from the epidural, even though my doctor says no...I think the two have to be connected.
