Re: moms to 2/3 month olds or BTDT moms, does your child fall asleep on their own or do you rock them to sleep?
yeah, i've just been spoiling her now. we took a great nap together. i swear she sleeps soooooooooo well in my arms. we have such a great cuddle it melts my heart!
my main issue is that she wakes up very quickly after i put her down but i hope she will outgrow that soon. it would be nice to get some work done around the house while she sleeps...

DS absolutely hates the crib. He sleeps in my arms at night and tends to sleep in my arms or on my lap during the day. I can usually get him to nap in the swing once per day. DS tends to fall asleep after I nurse him. If he's fussy and doesn't fall asleep after nursing, he usually needs to be rocked to sleep.
i could have written this myself!!! this is exactly my situation!

I also think that 8 weeks is kind of young....but if I ever have another baby..I think I will give it a try......because I have created a baby that at almost a year does not know how to put himself to sleep..I have to put him in the stroller and walk around my house then put him into his crib.

I'm pretty sure at that age I was still rocking her to sleep. If she did fall asleep while eating, she transferred well and would stay asleep.

You cant spoil a newborn... they need touch and security! Every child is different and I think some need more help with sleep than others. I still rock my baby at one year old... we both enjoy it... dont feel guilty at all... Do what feels natural! ETA: Yes they do outgrow waking up when you put them down... I think it was around 4-5 months for my ds! Until then we enjoyed naps in my arms mostly!

I was still rocking my son to sleep at that age. I wouldn't try cry it out for a while. I think your pediatrician is a bit aggressive with that schedule.

Re: moms to 2/3 month olds or BTDT moms, does your child fall asleep on their own or do you rock them to sleep?
for the first 6 months ds napped on me....i was thankful he would nap.... now i put him down on the couch next to me and he is able to fall asleep, not that i can do anything while he is napping as i have to supervise, dc is 7 months and we rock him to bed at night....some nights he sleeps through some nights we bring him into bed with us, when he becomes cranky.....it works for us, i don't think that its possible to have a "perfect" sleeper, i know that some books say we are doing everything wrong, but if it works for us, they i don't feell so bad about it.
we trid cio at about 5.5 months, it totally was not our thing....not worth it for us at all

I don't believe in CIO. I rocked DD to sleep until she was about 6 months. Then she started to go to sleep on her own.

My DD is 3 months now. I swaddle her, rock in the glider until shes almost sleeping, and then put her down. Shes getting better at falling asleep on her own now. Do you swaddle?

Re: moms to 2/3 month olds or BTDT moms, does your child fall asleep on their own or do you rock them to sleep?
I agree with everyone 8 weeks is too early. When DS was 8 weeks I let him fall asleep on me. At about 4 months I would put him in for naps and let him soothe himself but if he cried I would take him out of the crib. At that age we were still wrapping him in the Miracle Blanket at night so I had to let him fall asleep before I put him in it or it was a nightmare getting him in it. I started real CIO at 6 months and it has worked wonderfully but I definately think 8 weeks is too young.

Re: moms to 2/3 month olds or BTDT moms, does your child fall asleep on their own or do you rock them to sleep?
I do not agree about letting her cry but that's just me, she's too young. I don't let DS cry and he's 4 months. He used to sleep on my chest a lot but now I put him down to sleep. I put him down when he is sleepy and I usually soothe him to sleep in my arms by rocking him and using a pacifier. I agree with your ped that they should learn to fall asleep on their own but not with the crying. I would first try putting her down when she is sleepy and work on it from there.
