Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
My 1st was an emergency after many hours of labor, so please bear with me for the possible stupid questions...
How long did they take to close you up once the baby was out? (they knocked me out the first time) Was your DH able to stay with you?
How long were you in recovery?
Were you able to be with the baby while you were in recovery?
Anything else I should know???
TIA!

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
It took them about 20mins to close me up. The nurse told DH to go with the baby for her 1st bath so he didn't stay with me. It seemed that he couldn't but not 100% sure. There was a nurse there talking to me while they closed me up who was super nice!
I was in recovery for 2 and a half hours I was having serious pain so they gave me more meds and I had to wait before they sent me to my room. The baby wasn't aloud in recovery. I was with a ton of other people coming out of surgery. She was in my room as soon as I got there tho after recovery. I was at good sam. I was ****** they sent me to the general recovery room when no one was in the maternity recovery room.
Good luck!!!

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
my 1st was an emergency and I just had my 2nd which was scheduled.
1st time I was in the L&D (6th floor) OR (if you're scheduled you will normally go to the regular OR downstairs), took about 30 mins to close me up.
2nd I was scheduled and in the regular OR downstairs but they had to stop just before the spinal due to an allergic reaction I had to a medication. So, I ended up in the L&D OR again.
1st time I was put into general recovery, 2nd time into the L&D recovery (there's only 2 spots there). I was told that if you have your C section done in the regular OR you go to the regular recovery room. They don't bring you the baby in either recovery room. DH both times was told to escort DC to the 5th floor nursery. He was allowed to see me in recovery. I was in recovery for about an hour or so each time
When they bring you to your room they transfer you to the bed, put the leg cuffs on that inflate and then clean you up. Once they are done with that and baby is ready (all cleaned and temp is up) they will bring baby to you.

-30 mins i think, no longer than that. seemed a lot quicker than that.
Was your DH able to stay with you?
-he went to the nursery (the asked him to) then he went to recovery to wait for me.
How long were you in recovery?
-i think it was a couple of hours. all a blur, and hubs is recollecting here.
Were you able to be with the baby while you were in recovery?
-no, not until after.
Anything else I should know???
-my c-section wasn't scheduled, i just realized that's what you were asking, but i thought i'd share in hopes it might help some.

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
It took about 20 minutes or so for Doctor to close me up. DH did not stay with me...he went with DD. I wanted it this way, bc I was fine...I needed to know he was with the baby.
I had DD at 1:16. I'd say by the time doc closed me up, and they "expressed" me and rolled me to recovery it was probably about 2:15. I was there a few hours....DH popped in and out, bouncing between me and DD (and bringing me cell pics, bc no, DD wasn't allowed in recovery).
You stay in recovery until you can wiggle your toes.
Then they wheeled me to the nursery, brought DD out to see me, then brought her back in for somethign and got me settled in my room. Then about 20 minutes later, they brought her to me. That was somewhere around 5:30 I think (I don't really know, but my parents got there right then, and they would have been at the hospital around 5).

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
My first was a "semi" emergency section... dr advised to do the c-section saying if we waited it could easily become an emergency.
#2 was supposed to be scheduled (not at Good Sam though - NSUH). She decided not to wait and 2 weeks before the scheduled section date (3 weeks prior to her due date), my water broke while grocery shopping and I had contractions. However, I was not dialated (again) and similar to my first child I was in a predicament with my own health.
Just for comps since I know the hospitals are different - DH was with me from the moment he met me at the hospital around 10pm till I was moved into a room - around 6am (she was born at 1:15am). Neither time was I knocked out, my first I had an epidural, second I had a spinal nerve block. Although I felt the spinal made the surgery much easier (didn't even feel the pulling and pressure)... it took forever to wear off to a point I could be moved out of recovery into a room. I don't remember that being the case with the epi. It was about 40 minutes to close me up... DH bonded with the babies while I was being closed both times. I thought that was the one positive thing about c-sections tbh.
I was in recovery forever it felt like... DH and I took turns holding #2 in the recovery room. I had the "shakes" really bad after both sections so I could only hold them for so long.
Overall and I hope this helps, despite some differences between #1 and #2, I will say the second one was an easier recovery. Maybe it was knowing what to expect, maybe it was that I wasn't "let down" by the announcement a section was necessary as I was the first time. I wasn't "in induced labor" for hours like the first time, so not as exhausted. I also go out of bed sooner than the first time... hurts like a son of a b___ but I think it made a difference. HTH.

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
About 30 minutes to close me up ( no idea if having twins ahd anything to do with it) ....
DH left to go to NICU with them ...I didnt want him to, but then barely remember him not being there..
He came back while I was in recovery, I had two shots of morphine there and it felt like 5 minutes, but I think it was like an hour and a half..2 hours...My Mom and Sister came to see me there and MIL ( I think..lol) ..
My babies were in the NICU.
the experience was good overall.
The weirdest thing for me was how small the operating room was...LOL

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
I delivered at Southside and had a scheduled c-section.
From start to finish it was about 30-45 mins... that included when they gave me the spinal block.
DH was with me until they wheeled DS into recovery... DH went with him.
DS and I were in recovery together.
The only advice I would give you is to keep it only to you, your DH and your DC in recovery. I was able to have visitors in recovery (my parents and sister and my ILs) and while I loved that they were able to see DS fresh out the gate, it took up precious breastfeeding time. I wasn't able to breastfeed him until hours later and we had a hard time latching and I think it's because we didn't try right away.
Good luck!!!

Re: Moms who had a scheduled C-section (especially at Good Sam)
I honestly cannot tell you how long either of my c-sections took ( I stink with time lines in general )
All I can say is that I had a wonderful experience with both and was just so elated that my babies were born healthy that I knew they would be with me before I knew it ...
My Dh was with me for most of the time they were stitching me up ( which to me went very quickly) and then he was allowed to go see the baby get a bath ...
I have never had an emergency c-section, but I can only imagine that scheduled c-sections must be so much more relaxed...You'll do great
