Moms whose DC's take or have taken Zantac...
So after waiting it out as long as we could it appears we are going to have to give our DS zantac since at 4 mos his reflux continues to get worse
I HATE HATE HATE the idea of giving DS medicine.
For those of you that have DC that take or have taken Zantac - did it work? Also, did you do any looking into whether there are any negative side effects for DC? Are there any reasons why I shouldn't give him Zantac and did you try anything else that worked?
Also, DS is EBF if that matters...
Thanks so so so so much

ds is also ebf and has been on zantac since 3 months. he's now 7 1/2 months. ask the pharmacist to mix it with a flavor to make it taste better b/c it's nasty. it took ds a week to get used to it but he slurps it up like a champ now. it helps some what.

DD is EBF and Zantac gave her a rash so we d/c'd it. Hang in there, I hated giving DD medicine also. She takes Mylanta now 2-3x a day.

THanks ladies. I keep wondering if it is something i am eating that is doing this and it is making me nuts! Is formula better? I really really don't want to give him the zantac

DS who was formula fed took Zantac- it definitely made a difference. Although I am not gung ho giving babies meds, I thought the postivites outweighed the negatives! Acid reflux is a horrible thing to live with and I didn't want him to suffer anymore!

My DD took zantac then outgrew the reflux at 6 months and is off it now and doing perfectly without it. It does help protect their esophogus so I think IF it is bad enough to need it and it helps them to feel better it is worth it.

I EBF and my DS took Zantac 2x a day from 6 weeks to 4.5 months..no side effects except he was a different baby!!!! I'm sorry he has to go on meds but there was no side effect for DS and it helped so much.

Re: Moms whose DC's take or have taken Zantac...
The doctor told us at his 4 month but I knew it was time. I think I kept going for another 1/2 month because I was afraid of relapse but it was all good!!!!
