Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
So I'm slowly picking up things for DS for the summer, since we'll be on vacation for a very long time. Anyhow, tops arent an issue...shorts are.... last time he had his check up he was 24lbs and about 30 inches long... he wears size 18-24 months bc hes got a belly. (he's just about 11 months old) anyhow. the prob I'm having is shorts in the size 18-24 are so long not really short like at all... any suggestions?

Re: Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
You can try the 12-18 month size. His little belly shouldn't be a problem since most shorts will fall below the widest part of him.

Gavin has a pot belly too, I try to find pantsjeans/shorts with elastic all around to fit better. I also try to have the front under his belly, he looks like an old man that way, but he's comfy and his pants aren't huge...

Re: Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
I always had the opposite problem with the waist being too big and the length too short, but my friends who have had your situation put their kids in overalls a lot.

I have the same issue.
Overalls work great. And "sweat" shorts are better.
The best place I've found for boys shorts that really fit well is Walmart of all places.

Re: Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
Andrew is about the same measurements but 22 months old. I have to get him 12-18 month shorts for jean or khaki kind and 18 month for jersey.

Lucas is about 23 lbs (hopefully after this stomach virus) and I got him 18-24 months. I see some of his 12-18 months getting tight now. But I do think the length might be an issue...well not for him more for me. He'll look like he's wearing wide leg pants

Re: Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
I would try overall or romper type of outfits or the bottom that have the tabs on the inside so you can make the waist larger or smaller.

Re: Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
I can't believe that I forgot this...
I got Lucas a bunch of light-weight pants that have buttons on the outside to roll up the legs to make shorts.

Ang thats the EXACT issue I'm having with DS...they look like wide leg pants... and I did buy him some pants that you can roll up but we'll be in Croatia for almost two months, and they're predicting a ridiculously hot summer...its warming up over there already... beach season starts in May there! so I cant have him in the rolled up pants for too long... I would go with the 12-18 but they're just barely fitting him now, and I can't even imagine how tight they'll be come July. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.

What about these from Old Navy:
Lightweight linen cargos suit baby's cool casual style! Hidden button tabs help you roll up the cuffs for a laid-back look.
These look short:

Re: Moms with boys, questions about summer shorts
I would get half 12-18 and half 18-24. I also noticed that Koala by BRU shorts are on the short side. Also I think the 18-24 infant at the gap is short than the toddler section 18-24. I also have roll up pants from Children's place and I think they are light enough to have them rolled. He will probably be in a bathing suit most of the time.

OMG...I am having the same problem too. Right now DS is mostly wearing 12-18 months, but he got a lot of summer clothes for his birthday in size 18-24 mo. I tried some of them on him and they fit around his waist, but seem long, almost like they are capri's or pants. And DS is pretty tall, he is already 31 in. which is the length for 18-24 mo. It's only April, so I figure by the summer, DS will probably grown another inch or two and by than they will fit him like shorts. I think DS has a longer torso than legs which is why they may seem a little long on him.
