Moms, would you do a 1-night trip with a toddler?
Just looking for some input.
I'm graduating next week and as a gift DH wants us to go away overnight with our DS (not taking him is not something either of us considers).
But, I just feel like a 1 night getaway can't be so relaxing. The place is a surprise but supposedly has fantastic facilities. It's about a 2 hr drive.
My thing is that I feel like with check-in being around 3-4PM and check out the next day probably at noon, there isn't much time to relax. DH called and was told that we can use the facilities as soon as we arrive even though we haven't checked into a room.
But, I imagine we would arrive at 11AM the earliest and with a toddler who will have skipped a nap, we'll be in our room by 7:30PM at the very latest. Take time out for meals and actually checking in and we won't use the facilities much I think. And we check out the next day. DH said we could add a night and arrive Friday night (graduation is until 3PM) but at $400 a night NOT including meals, it does not seem worth it.
Am I just being a control-freak-pain-in-the-a$$ or does it sound like 1 night is just not worth it? WWYD - go or not go?

i would go earliest you can to take advantage of your time away. Once you are they, you'll make time to relax and have fun. Enjoy!

Never mind, we're going. I think it's the control freak part of me that is having trouble with the whole "surprise" aspect of it. I will just let go and let myself be surprised

Can you go the weekend after grad so you have more time?
Either way, I'd go, sometimes its nice just to be out of your world.
