Re: Money saving ideas -
Someone said they shop at Trader Joe's to save money .... expensive. King Kullen can be pricey too. We shop at Waldbaum's with coupons. Generally only go to King Kullen for Boar's Head cold cuts ... it is food people ... not like I am buying fish for $13.00 a pound! Also .. .people who do not use a phone for work really do not need an i phone .. please people a basic cell is fine. BTW ... DH and I have never carried a credit card balance in the almost 10 years we were married and have money in savings. We also try and enjoy life too. We can be frugal but do get away for a weekend here and there.

Re: Money saving ideas -
I got rid of my cell phone when work agreed to pay for my Blackberry.
My boss told me once the Blackberry dies, they'll upgrade me to an IPhone anyways.
I know a lot of people like to keep both work and personal seperate but I don't really have time to play with all the apps on there anyways, especially during business hours.
Work also got me a laptop.

It depends.
TJ's is like any other store in the sense that certain items are deals there and you have to know what they are. If you really want to save money, you only buy those things then get out.
Some items are a big time rip off and some are cheap.
You have to know what to get where. Meat at the butcher, cereal at Target, certain dairy products at Rite Aid/Walgreens (yes, Walgreens often has eggs for 99 cents!)
Obviously it's inefficient to go to a million different stores for things, so you make decisions on where to get the best bang for your buck. Less than an hour reading supermarket ads can yield a lot of savings.
But if you have to just pick up one thing quickly, know the right place to do it.

For me, one of the best ways to save money is to shop online. While I can be adding figures at the grocery store or whatnot, it's much easier and more accurate to see the number on the computer screen. Instead of standing at the cashier taking out items that go over my budget, I can just delete them from my shopping cart.

I ONLY shop at KK for sales and to use my $1.00 coupons since they double them.. other stores only double up to .99. I too shop at Walbuams if the sales are good. Like you I do not have Credit Card debt at all. I so agree on fish or meats that are even $8+ a lb..dont need that.

Re: Money saving ideas -
I made the mention of Trader Joe's. I find them to be a lot more reasonable because I tend to buy Organic, no HFCS, Antibiotic Free stuff. For that stuff to me they are usually cheaper than Waldbaums, KK, Shop Rite etc.

Do people actually buy used cloth diapers?
where did you even get this from?
Posted by medic6809
Cloth Diapers. Yes it's more up front in cost but we plan to have more kids and they will have paid for themselves in 2 months form now esp since we have 2 in cloth! Plus they hold their value. I can resell them when we're done! Can you say the same for a used disposable diaper
.
I was wondering the same thing? Is there REALLY a market for that?
Oh YES!! There is a pretty bif market. I can buy a diaper for $25 and when im all set if it's in good condition could sell it for maybe $15. There is a nice return on well cared for, stainfree cloth diapers. ABout 80% of mine are used and I paid a fraction of the price and had no real prep work for the diapers. Totally worth it!

Make your own cleaners. I use 3T alcohol, 3T Dr. Bronner's organic baby soap, 30drops whatever oil I have, and fill with water! It works so good and it's so cheap!
Is this for clothes? ok for He washers?
No this is a general cleaner. I did make my own laundry soap, but lately it's not as good so I have been using Tide original or Country Save since both are safe for my diapers as well.

Re: Money saving ideas -
Someone hinted at this, but I think the #1 thing you can do to save money is know prices. Know how much you spend on every item you consistently buy, then when you're out you know whether or not to buy something or wait until you are at the place it's cheapest.
BJ's is a great example of this.. I think things like paper goods, toothpaste and other toiletries are a rip-off at BJ's because I know how much I can get them at Target/ supermarket when on sale + coupons.
Another example is I also have a per diaper and per wipe price in my head that I need to match to buy them when I'm at a store.

I 2nd the Bj's comment. I dont buy paper goods there b/c I can get them cheaper. I do purchase some H&B if I stack coupons (man & store). The meat @ BJ's is so much better in quality and price then the supermarkets most of the time. I also like Bj brand items.. cheaper even after stacking coupons.
