Re: Monitoring on Clomid??
I wasn't on clomid.. but it's really hard to say about monitoring anyway because my first cycle had A TON of it because we were experimenting with different protocols.. .and for my second cycle I went once for day 3, next on day 10 (after being on meds for a week) .. then 2 days later to get monitored once more before the IUI, then the next two days for the IUI.
As far as the work situation.. and I know you teach too .. for me, I was often able to schedule monitoring appts for after work or late in the day so I would only miss the last hour (though, I think I remember you saying your office only does monitoring in the morning) .... Honestly my advice here is, you do what you have to do. Work is important of course and it's a priority, but this just has to take first place now and your job has to understand that. No sense stressing over it since there's really nothing you can do about it. I hope your administration is understanding. Mine is VERY supportive. I tell them I have an appt and they just tell me to let the person know who does coverages and that's it! I have been open with my principal and AP about what my appts are for and they have been really good about it!!!!

Thank you for your advice
You are so lucky to have such support at work. I wish I could have that....at my job, if I tell my principal and AP, then ALL OF THE TEACHERS would know All my AP does is gossip and I've seen her in the act... so I know it would get around and I just really dont want that. Im getting worried because I dont know what Im going to say. Its so hard knowing that if I say something everyone will know and gossip about me behind my back

Mine also opens up at 6:30... but I'd have to travel east 15 minutes to get there and then drive west all the way to Brooklyn and you know how ugly the Belt Parkway gets so I'd be way late for work. I leave my house at 6:40 in order to get to Brooklyn and find a parking spot in the morning. Its def. going to be tough for me

Re: Monitoring on Clomid??
Clomid is relatively little monitoring: CD 3, CD 10, CD 12 (for the actual IUI for me)... which is 3 days per month & I never did a beta.
You will be late every day of the monitoring/IUIs if you must leave at 6:40 and are 15 minutes closer from home. Maybe you can rent a garage for a few months????
The other issue is, for the IUIs, they will wash and prepare the sperm... and although the IUI takes a few minutes, this would normally take a while (think realistically 30-45 minutes as a minimum).
Never mind the fact that your office would likely be PACKED with people trying to get an appointment in before work. Over 30 minutes before my office opened, there would be people waiting.
This all was a major consideration for me too as I could not miss work. When you start thinking about 3 months of IUIs, one with injections (where the monitoring is every other day)... it gets tough.
Doing IVF during work is impossible. I timed my IVF for a vacation week. They call you last minute & tell you to come in vs stay home.
My advice: you are lucky you are a teacher. You have 2 months off coming up. This is ideal for a medicated cycle & an IVF cycle. (worse case scenario). I'd plan very carefully & use your sick days (or you could say that you have an endocrine problem & need specific monitoring & use up FMLA).
I'd also look into offices in NYC and the traffic commute times from there to Brookyln. It may be better to go to a NYC office...
I picked my office also based on commute times.

Thank you I just did some times and it looks like it would be 15 minutes away from my school... BUT Im thinking it would totally be easier for me to get to work faster from there than from Mineola and having to take the belt parkway. Im going to look into it a bit more. I just hope there's parking in Brooklyn when I go in.
Which RE do you go to? They dont make appointments? It was just first come first serve? Oh boy, thats horrible that there was a line even before it opened!

Re: Monitoring on Clomid??
I did 4 rounds of Clomid/IUI after day 3 I went back on day 10 and then sometimes everyday for the week before I triggered with Ovidrel. I have to say it's great the amount of monitoring they do but it really was so frustrating and exhausting. I always was in a panic about being late and I never felt like I had a good gage on when the IUI would be when I was missing work again. I guess all in all it's a week long process from day 10! Good Luck. I feel like a clomid pro if you have any questions.
