Bare minimum monitoring - Femara or Clomid
What do you think is the minimum monitoring I would need if I took either of these next cycle? 1 or 2 ultrasounds? Trying to see what I can get away with, with the insurance. LOL! Thanks!

Re: Bare minimum monitoring - Femara or Clomid
I'm in the middle of my 2nd Femara IUI cycle with Dr. B.
1st cycle I had an u/s on CD 3, CD 10 and CD 12
This cycle I had an u/s on CD 5 & CD 12 (I started this cycle later)
HTH !! I would say a normal would be 2-3 - maybe 4 if you don't progress quickly.

Re: Bare minimum monitoring - Femara or Clomid
For my iuis with clomid I generally had 3 sonos, sometimes 4 if I wasn't ovulating and needed a trigger.

Re: Bare minimum monitoring - Femara or Clomid
I've done 1 clomid/IUI cycle so far. I went for blood work and sono on CD3 (very important!). Took the clomid from CD3 to CD7. Went back on CD10 for blood work and sono to check growth of the follicles. I am pretty sure I went back an additional 2 days for blood work and sono to time the IUI.
It's hard to predict how many times you would have to go at a minimum b/c everyone responds differently. If you are not monitoring for IUI timing, I would guess maybe 2-3 times total to check your hormone levels and to make sure you don't have too many follicles.

Re: Bare minimum monitoring - Femara or Clomid
Well, here's my story......
Started 2.5mg of femara and didn't respond AT ALL ...... The femara was bumped up to 5mg and I went in for monitoring to find I was in the process of developing 20 follicles ...... I went back a few days later and saw only 2 went on to mature, and at that point I started 75ius of gonal-f and then went back .. then started 150ius of gonal-f...... then finally I was good to go, used ovidrel to trigger, and had a back to back IUI......
Now I'm in the 2ww
Hopefully you won't have to jump through as many hoops as I did!!!

Re: Bare minimum monitoring - Femara or Clomid
I always had two...one to make sure my ovaries were "quiet" and had no cysts before taking the meds, and the other to see how many follies I had and when it was time to trigger.
