Morality Question
You are a member of a jury. Lets say it is a murder trial where the accused is someone with MUCHO DOLLARS
If you were offered a 1 million to vote not guilty...would you do it?

Re: Morality Question
no, but only because I'd be afraid of "getting caught" somewhere down the line.
If it was $1 mill with absolutely NO chance of anyone ever finding out and prosecuting ME, I might just do it.

Re: Morality Question
I don't think I could, because of the fear of getting caught and potentially going to jail.

LOL I was thinking the same thing. And then I thought what if they gave me the money, then once the case closed killed me so I would never talk about being bribed. I would always be looking over my shoulder.

Re: Morality Question
I honestly have to say maybe and it would depend on how far into the trial it was and if I thought the person was not guilty. If I really thought they did it and it was not somewhat understandable (selfdefense, that type of thing) I don't think I would be able to say not guilty.

Probably not, also I don't think I could take the guilt if the person killed again....

Re: Morality Question
I couldn't do it - no way. To me, the money would be blood money and I would just feel horrible knowing I "helped" someone like that. No amount of money is worth that. Aside from that, I would also be afraid of being caught later on down the line.

Re: Morality Question
Absolutely not. My integrity is worth a lot more than $1 Million. Plus could you imagine how you would feel if the person went free and then hurt someone else?

I voted yes by accident so minus one there!!
I say no because I couldn't live with the guilt. Everytime I bought something I would think "this is blood money".

Re: Morality Question
honestly, I would probably try to "justify" why s/he was not guilty. Maybe the victim was assaulting the alleged at the time? Maybe the defendent had to defend himself?
But, if there was no way to "justify" that the person was innocent, I couldn't take the money. I would never forget how I got the money. And, I'd be afraid that something bad would happen to me or a loved one.

Same. I know I would get caught somehow. Even if i moved, changed my name and my appearance I know I'd get caught the minute the money touched my hands.
If their was absolutly no way of anyone ever finding out and me going to jail I'd be sitting on a nice beach drinking Mai Tai's in Tahiti

Re: Morality Question
i honestly don't know. i'd like to say that I definately Wound't, but really, i dont have much faith at all in our justice system, AND if i were the ONLY juror that didnt take the money, and the slimeball got a Not guilty verdict anyway... i'd be really frustrated for a long time. deep down, i dont think i could do it, and maybe if i had more faith in our system then i could say 100% i wouldnt do it, but i just dont know
