More baby name issues
I am due in 12 days and my DH and I are still torn between names...
I like Melinda Brooke, and DH likes Brooke Melinda. Luckily we're not that far off. We have a very common and easy last name, so that's not a problem.
I had suggested because we were both set in our ways that if the baby is born before a certain time we go one way, and after a certain time we go the other...he doesn't like this.
He feels we should go his way because I got final say on my DD #1's name. He got the middle name for her and I got the first. I think it's BS...I'm carrying the baby!!
The other day he approached me and said he would give in if I switched the middle name. I won't write it because I don't want to offend anyone, but I absolutely hate the name. It's my middle name and my MILs middle name and his grandmother's name, so it has significance, but I truly hate it. I've always been embarrased telling people my middle name, and I really don't want to pass it down!
I just don't know what to do...am I being selfish?? Please help!!!!!!!
Sorry so long...

Re: More baby name issues
Names are such a personal and emotional thing, it makes it hard to give advice on the subject.
All I can do is tell you what I would do; I am an intensely fair person (to a fault), I have always been ultra concerned that no one ever feels left out or discounted. If DH and I agreed on which names we wanted to use, but not the order and I had been able to choose for the first child I would let him choose the order for the second child. I know carrying the child is a HUGE deal, one DH could never fully understand, but I also would not be carrying this child without him, so I tend not to use the rational that since I am carrying the baby my opinion carries more weight.
Good Luck, I hope you guys are able to come to an agreement that works for both of you.

Oh boy, am I in the same boat as you!!! Men are such...UGH sometimes!! I don't have any advice because I really am in the same situation, 11 days before my due date and no name for either. I definately think it should be our choice, like you said WE are carrying these babies!! Good luck!

I looked to see what your first daughters name was, and I like how Summer and Brooke sound together!

I think if the middle name means that much to DH you should go with it....no one uses their middle names anyway

I think if you got first pick of DD #1's first name and he got to pick her middle name, then it is perfectly fair for him to get first pick of DD #2's first name and you to get to pick the middle name.
I agree. I think you should both be happy with the name though. I personally like Brooke better than Melinda , but I think Melinda Brooke sounds better than Brooke Melinda.

I also happen to like the way Brooke sounds with Summer as well.
Also this may be silly but personally I wouldn't be crazy about giving my DD the initials " B.M." silly but it would still bother me.
I have thought of this...luckily our last name doesn't start with M!!

This is what I'm getting from 50% of the people I talk to - it's so confusing...and the clock is ticking!!!
