most important issues?
what issues are most important to you?
I am very concerned about abortion rights. I am very concerned about crime. I believe bail reform should be revisited. I think we need to take a second look at the marijuana laws. I am not opposed to it being legal, but I believe it should be treated as alcohol and not be able to be consumed publicly. I am concerned about the economy as well. what everyone’s biggest concerns?

Same. Although I do not believe abortion rights are at risk in NY. As a subset to economy, I am concerned about reckless spending and insane taxation.

Re: most important issues?
Taxes Economic Equality with the rest of the state. Congestion pricing is a ridiculous proposition. It's just another downstate tax I would like SALT to be removed. Reproductive Rights/Medical choice I am also very concerned about permit less carry. I can't imagine more guns in the subways and streets will make things safer

Abortion. Everything else is secondary. I can not vote for anyone who is so against pro choice and is trying to regulate women's bodies. I actually find this very frustrating because I like Zeldin. I like almost everything he says except for abortion and that is a hard line for me.

I don't think he can (or will) touch abortion. I read this today
Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin — who has maintained his anti-abortion stance unwaveringly — vows in a new campaign ad that he “will not” move to overturn New York’s abortion rights law if elected governor.
The stunning 30-second spot comes after incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul and state Democrats have for weeks run a barrage of ads trying to paint Zeldin as an extremist who would take away a woman’s right to choose over his pro-life position.
In the new ad, Zeldin, a Long Island congressman, looks directly into the camera to discuss the volatile issue.
“Let me be clear. As governor, I will not change and could not change New York’s abortion law,” Zeldin says.
“Hochul already knows that. But she tried to deceive you anyhow, which tells you everything you’ll ever need to know about Kathy Hochul.”
It’s the first time that Zeldin has used the phrase “I will not” try to overturn the abortion law. He typically says he couldn’t anyway because pro-choice Democrats control the state legislature.

I'm going to be honest- that's top on my list as well.
I just cannot fathom being forced to give my daughter that vaccine. I am petrified of it. Especially knowing that it does nothing to stop spread. I am flabbergasted how it can even be a consideration to mandate a vaccine that does nothing to stop spread in schools. Why was a flu shot never mandated then? It's absolute madness

most important issues?
My top list…crime, economy, and no vax mandates. A vax mandate won’t affect my family because my husband has his own business and my kids are homeschooled but regardless of this, vaxs (covid vax included more recently) are a huge deal for me and it’s something I’ve been fighting against for a long time. I just cannot be on board with this especially when it has to do with children.

Totally agree, especially since my one son will be going to college in 2 years. We went to a college fair last week, and that was one of our concern. Most schools still require it here in NY, however, some said they may be changing it soon.

Most NY Republicans have no plans to overturn either. The ads we are being shown are similar to ads in different states - they are being paid for with natiional money. I have heard what they are against is providing abortions for out of state residents.
The worst part is that many of these ads are on YouTube -being shown during programming which is mainly watched by children. My friend was telling me that her 12 year old was asking her why shouldn't a 16 year old get an abortion if she was raped. I asked my son yesterday and I thought he was leaning towards our neighbor for Congress (Republican) but he said the other guy seemed nicer because he doesn't understand what him being against cash bail means lol.

For me, if I really want an understanding of where I think each candidate is going to go; I have been researching their voting records and bills they support. I think it’s a good indication of what I can expect from each candidate in the future and I am basing my vote on a lot of that research I have been doing
