Thanks for thinking of me. I am hanging in there. I miss my mom everyday (just writing this I am crying). She was my best friend. I still don't understand why it was her turn to go.

2 words- It stinks! My Mom died of cancer 13 years ago, and it has not gotten any better, maybe a little bit, but when these occassions come up- it hits you like a ton of bricks. I planned my wedding without her and will have kids without her. Who will I call to ask questions about childbirth, a baby screaming in the middle of the night. I thought my MIL would be able to help me, man was that pulled out from under me.

Re: Motherless Mother's Days
I lost my mom 2 months after my wedding, so it's been hard dealing with having the best and worst year of your life.
When is a good time for all of you? I work in a school so late afternoon or evenings are good for me. I can meet whenever on weekends.

Re: Motherless Mother's Days
I wish my mom had a group like you guys. .
I just want to add a few things:
As a mother, I could not imagine that anyone's mother-in-law would think you should be over your mother's death. I can't explain it - except to say that for me being a mom makes you think about moms differently. I always knew my mom loved me, but it wasn't until I had my own that I really understood the love she had. You don't get over it, you get through it - and it takes a lifetime.
I'm really glad you guys are such a great support system to each other.

My mom had been sick in the hospital since Sept. 2000 when DH asked me to marry him on Halloween. I had hoped (and I think maybe DH did too - and that was why he did it when he did) that when she found we had a wedding to plan, maybe that would be the "push" to get better. But, though she would have some improvements here and there, she would decline again. When I was showing her pics of dresses one day, she said something about how my godmother might have to help me - but I told her, no, SHE would have to get well so she could help. It never happened and she passed away the day before my 28th BD in April 2001. I had told DH if she didn't make it, I couldn't get married, but eventually, I started making plans the next year. It was soo hard to plan without her. And I felt so jipped!! But I was so glad that she knew we were getting married - but I also feel guilty that we waited so long and she couldn't be there.

Re: Motherless Mother's Days
I am off in Mondays and Thursdays, and weekends and free basically any evening. I work part time so afternoons are good too. I am pretty flexible. Hugs to all of us. We really need each other.

Wow what an amazing husband. Thank goodness for our strong husbands to help us through this- i dont know how they do it. if it weren't for my dh i would be in a psych ward. I really just can't believe these stories- there are so many of us who have to deal with this horrific situation. how did/do you get through these supposed happy times?

I guess you just do... my sister and BIL walked me down the aisle. Instead of throwing my throw away bouquet, put it at my parents grave with a note. and then I cried alot.... I find myslef to be crying on the inside when I am in those happy times..... a have a good support system with some friends who have been thru a lot with me, so I can always talk to them and they understand. But there is some jealousy there when there Moms call or are there to baysit, etc. I guess you just deal with it. I am thankful for my DH he has been wonderful . I was just starting to get to know my Mom as an adult daughter when she died. I was almost 23 years old.

Re: Motherless Mother's Days
My SIL told me in her half drunken state on her wedding day, mind u it was 4 AM and I was up that morning from 5:30 AM becuase I had to work, what is the matter, did you not have a life in your 20's?!?!?! Why are u so tired. I was FLOORED. You are the only ones I have shared this with besides my Dh and BIL who could not believe what she said. She has no idea what it is like to be a Motherless daughter- she still has her Mom and grandmother. I am still not over this comment even though she wanted to sweep it under the rug, one day I am afraid I am just going to go o ff on her. I am so hurt by it. I spent my later teens and early 20's helping taking my Mom for chemo etc. While I was in college, and then after that my dad got sick. If I had to do it all over again, i would have done the same thing, been there for them no matter what.I do not feel like I was jipped of going out all night to clubs, etc. That was not my thing..... I get angry 6 months later this was said to me and now that my MIL passed and we are cleaning out her house, she has NO CLUE still what it is like to lose a Mom or someone who was like a Mom .

I think that date could work for me. But I guess I'd probably pick near Huntinton over Roosevelt Field, since it's on a weekday and that's a bit further for me.
