Mothers that work

what time do you get home at night? How much time do you get with DC?

when DH is at sea, i don't get home until 6:30 or so after picking up DD from my mom's. That usually leaves me an hour and 15 minutes to hang with her and i have to bathe her and feed her in that time frame too.

I feel like i get no time with her Chat Icon

Re: Mothers that work

I get home at 5 or 5:30... some days, 4:30pm. She goes to sleep between 7:30-8. It's not a whole lot of time, but I make sure to make it quality time. We spend about 30 mins playing in the playground at school. I play at home for another hour with her, give her dinner, a quick bath, read a story, sing a lullaby and bedtime.

I make sure I dedicate the entire time to her, rather than tidying the house, preparing lunch for the next day, or dinner for Dh and I. I take care of all of that stuff after she goes to bed.

Re: Mothers that work

I'm changing my hours when I go back to be 7-3.

I am NOT a morning person at all, but I wanted more time with DS in the afternoon, so I'm going to make myself a morning person.

I usually get home around 5:30pm give or take depending on traffic. My DD goes to bed around 7:30-8:00pm. I feel like I don't get enough time with her during the week. Its usually dinner, play for a little then bath & bed. On the weekends I spend every minute with herChat Icon

Re: Mothers that work

I get to my moms at 6. Depending on how long we stay...but I try to leave right away and we're home by 6:05. We live on the same block.

He goes to sleep between 7 and 8. So, it's not a whole lot of time. My mom feeds him, so when we get home, we play for 1/2 hour or 45 minutes, take a bath, get pjs on, have baba, sing and rock and then he's sleeping.

My boys wake at 7:00 normally so we spend some time together in the am, I leave at 8:30. I have to get them ready normally but they don't eat at home so it is not too bad.

I get home at 5:30 and they go to bed at 8:30, so we get 3 hours, but we have to eat, get ready for bed. I do not give them bath's everynnight since I would rather them be a bit dirty then lose the time playing with them.

Can you push bedtime back a little bit, or not do a bath every night?

Re: Mothers that work

I get home at 5:30 most nights. I do a bath every other night so that gives us more time. She typically goes to bed around 7 or 7:30 and we have about an hour together in the morning.

Re: Mothers that work

If I cacth the rigth train I get home at 6:15 and DS goes to bed around 8:30-9PM, it is absolutely not enough time, but there isn't much I can do about it, I am hoping to approch my bosses about maybe letting me come in a little earlier so that I can leave a little earlier, but I really doubt they will go for it.

Ayway so when I get home I play with DS for most of the time and give a bottle and rock him to sleep.

On a good day (like today) he wakes up early and I can play with him for about 1 hour before I leave for work.

I have the best of both worlds. I work part time so I'm able to spend a lot of time with DS.

I don't get home till 7pm and DD goes to sleep at 7:30. So I usually have 1/2 hour in the PM to hug, kiss and play with her. She typically wakes up anywhere bet 6-6:30 and I leave to go to work at 7:45. So the AM is usually an hr only.

It stinks! Chat Icon

I get home at 6. I start dinner and then we eat as a family. I give him a bath and then I take care of him at bedtime. So really spend the whole night with him.

I get home anywhere form 6:30 to 7:30 so I spend about an hour and a half with her Chat Icon we play, she eats her snacks next to us while we eat dinner and we read.

She is in daycare in my building though so I go visit her during lunch for an hour and a few other times during the day.

Re: Mothers that work

Gosh, I was going to post this exact question this morning but didn't get a chance!

I just went back to work last week, and I'm hating how little time I have with DD already. We leave the house by 7am and DH drops her off at his mom's at 7:30am. We don't get home until after 6pm, and lately she wants to be sleeping by 7:30pm at the very latest. I was crying last night over the lack of time we have with her now Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It's horrible!!

Unfortunately, I feel your pain Chat Icon

6:30pm. We have 2 hours to eat dinner, do homework, baths & bedtime stories.

There are some days I can work from home so I pick them up earlier from daycare if necessary. (Those are my favorite days)

I get DS at daycare at 6pm...we get home at 6:30 pm which gives us an hour and a half to play, bath, and then off to bed. DH and I alternate bedtime so that we can take turns at least holding him a while longer.

It depends on the day. BEst case scenerio I get home at 5PM. That's usually two days a week. The other days i get home at 6:30 and i get 1/2 hour with the boys. It stinks so much. I actually am having a harder time with this as they get older because they are doing so much now and I don't get to see it Chat Icon

However I wake up with them in the morning and have a 1/2 hour with them too. Usually i feed them and play with them for a bit.

I feel very guilty on teh weekends when I (or DH and I) do something for myself or with friends without them. It's like a never-ending guilt trip i am on.

It's usually between 6:30-7pm when we get home and then I try to have them asleep by 8:30pm. I don't have to be at work until 9:30am so we play with them in the morning before we leave.

I've learned that it's not the quantity, it's all about quality time.
