I am so glad its nothing serious! And sorry she has to still have the surgery, but I think it's best now, like your doctor said. I've suffered from 3 painful bouts of a pilonidal cyst and its torture. I never had the surgery to remove it, so I am still prone to get another one. I hope not.

Just reading this now, and I'm happy all is well; my sister has spinabifida and is a best case scenario, at 32 is a wonderful, smart, healthy woman...but I'm so glad to hear Katie won't be going down that path.

MRI Results Update 11/18/06
We FINALLY got Katie's MRI results. The sacral dimple does NOT go to the spine AND it looks like it is a CLOSED neural tube defect! ALL good news. No, GREAT news!!
This should not ghave any effect on her life at all - it wont slow her down developmentally at all and should not be an issue for her once we have the surgery. We are having the surgery to cut out the sacral dimple because it can get infected and painful cysts can form in it and she can end up having a LOT of pain from it. Dr. Mittler recommends doing it now when she is little and he said she won't remember any of it.
So we're a go for her pre-op testing on 11/27 (Happy Anniversay to us) and surgery on 11/28.
We are SO relieved that this is not spina bifida and not on her spine. OMG the relief... Thank YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! I mean it!!! I don't know what I would have done without this board and you all. Thank you for all your replies and FMs
