I just wanted to add that I have what I think you are describing which didn't affect me until I was about 24 years old. I had developed a painful cyst there which I was told was from the "indent" and the fact that hair can get caught in it along with any dirt. It was the most painful thing I ever experienced. I couldn't stand up until I put heat on it & I didn't know what it was until my doctor diagnosed it & cut into it and drained it, etc. The "core" was never removed & I have had slightly less severe episodes over the years since, but all I can say is although your DD is so very young and surgery is scary, it is better that this is taken care of now as to not create problems in the future. My thoughts are with you. Good luck with everything.

I will say prayers for your Katie...I am relieved to read it's not Spinal Bifida. I hope it's not connected and that the surgery goes very well. Let us know how the MRI goes.

Kathy - how is DH handling it these days?
Crabby - ahem - I mean DH has been OK this evening. Before the MRI and all day yesterday he was HORRIBLE to me - just horrible. He kept biting my head off. Today he said it was because he was worried about Katie but in the same breath he told me "get over it" when I told him I was upset about a few things he said to me.
But I have more important things to worry about now. He seems better tonight now that the MRI is done. I think I might have to move out when surgery time comes around. hah

a pylinoal ( spellling) cyst or something like that? MY DH has one- it's got infected last year- it was so gross- that people said we didn't need wedding vows after I did for him
he too has an indentation in that area- and I can say the hair is also an issue- it's very common- mostly in men
