MrsDeVito IVF Journal***UPDATE 7/5***Still waiting
I'm not sure exaclty how to do this but here goes!
Background: We have been TTC for 8 months. DH is 27, I'm 25. I have PCOS and I am on Metformin to help with insulin resistance. DH has slightly low sperm concentration and a slight morphology issue. This is our first IVF cycle. We had 3 failed medicated/timed intercourse cycles before deciding that IVF was the next step. We were lucky enough to be accepted to participate in the NYS DOH IVF grant, without it we would not be able to afford IVF as our insurance covers NOTHING FERTILITY RELATED.
Monday May 24, 2010: Started BCP
Tuesday May 25, 2010: Blood work for Water sono.
Wednesday May 26, 2010: Signed all the consent forms for the IVF!
Thursday May 27, 2010: Had water sono today, everything looked great. I also recieved all my meds, my kitchen table looks like a pharamcy! DH also had a repeat SA today just to make sure the issues that showed on the last SA weren't a fluke.
Wednesday June 2, 2010: IVF counseling session. The doc deemed us fit to do the IVF. lol We hid the crazy well I guess!
Monday June 7, 2010: Yesterday was he last dya of BCP's, YAY! This morning I started 2mg 1/day of Estrace. I will be on this through Thursday. Friday is blood work and sono, if all goes well we'll start Bravelle and Menupor!
Friday June 11, 2010: Had blood work and sono today and we started injections! Bravelle and Menopur. The injection wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It certainly wasn't pleasant but not too bad.
Dosage:
Bravelle- 75iu 1x/day
Menopur- 75iu 1x/day
Monday June 14, 2010: Had another sono today and more blood work. A few follies on left ovary measuring around 9.5-10 plus a few smaller and a few small ones on the right ovary. Dr. says it looks great for 3 days of stimming. Dosage will remain the same for the next 2 days. Back in for blood and sono on Wednesday and I was told to bring one of my Ganrelix shots with me.
Wednesday June 16, 2010: Another sono and blood work today. Now we have a bunch of follies on each side all between 9-11mm. It was too early to start the ganirelix, we go back Friday for another check. Dosage of bravelle and menopur increased.
Dosage:
Bravelle- 150iu 1x/day
Menopur- 150iu 1x/day
Friday June 18, 2010: Follies are growing! The left side seems to be mroe active with a 12mm, 13mm and an 11mm plus a couple between 9-10mm. Right still has some smaller in the 9mm range. We start ganirelix today and go back tomorrow to check the progress!
Dosage:
Bravelle- 150iu 1x/day
Menopur- 150iu 1x/day
Ganirelix- 0.5ml 1x/day
Saturday June 19, 2010: Follies keep on growing!
Dosage:
Bravelle- 75iu 1x/day
Menopur- 225iu 1x/day
Ganirelix- 0.5ml 1x/day
Sunday June 20, 2010: Doctor said it looks like I will be triggering tomorrow night and retrieval will be Wednesday!
Dosage:
Bravelle- 225iu 1x/day
Menopur- 150iu 1x/day
Ganirelix- 0.5ml 1x/day
Tuesday June 22, 2010: We are triggering tonight! ER is Thursday morning.
Dosage:
Ganirelix- 0.5ml 1x/day
Novalrel (HCG)- 10,000 units
Thursday June 24, 2010: Egg retrieval was today. We got 16 eggs! Hd first progesterone injection and it was not at all as bad as I thought it would be.
Dosage:
Progesterone- 25mg by IM injection
Medrol- 4mg 4x/day (for 5 days)
Doxycycline- 100mg 2x/day (for 5 days)
Friday June 25, 2010: Got the fertilization report. Of the 16 eggs only 8 were mature and of those 8 only 4 fertilized. We are devasted, spent the whole day in bed crying.
Dosage:
Progesterone- 25mg by IM injection
Saturday June 26, 2010- Just a waiting day.
Dosage:
Progesterone- 50ml by IM injection
Sunday June 27, 2010: Transfer day and more bad news. The embryos weren't where they should have been. Doctor wanted to see them between 7-9 cells. We had a 2 cell, a 3 cell and a 5 cell but something *may* be wrong with the 5 cell, doctor said if there was it just wouldn't implant nothing to worry about. The fourth didn't make it. Originally the doctor only wanted to put back one embryo, the quality was so poor we put back all 3 and basically said we'll cross out fingers. Another day crying in bed.
Dosage:
Progesterone- 50mg by IM injection
Monday June 28, 2010: Start baby aspirin and vaginal progesterone inserts.
Dosage:
Progesterone- 200mg 4x/day (until further notice)
Baby aspirin- 81mg 1x/day (until further notice)
Wednesday June 30, 2010: Blood work to check proesterone levels. Start estrace.
Dosage:
Estrace- 2mg 2x/day
Monday July 5, 2010: Blood work today. First beta, we don't get the results from this one. They did call and tell me to take an extra shot of progesterone today and tomorrow though in addition to the suppositories. Wednesday is the big day!

Completely fine! The worst part was the speculum, I couldn't believe it. I had myself all worried. It was over in about 5 min and did not hurt at all. I did take 3 advil before I went, but I really don't think I even needed to. Good luck!
