Muscle spasms- UPDATE

My Frenchie is having major muscle spasms. His shoulder and back leg is twitching in spasm. This happened the other night also but he plays REALLY rough. We throw his ball and he'll slide across the floor and go smashing into walls/cabinets, whatever, but he never slows down, and usually never gets hurt, he really seems to like it Chat Icon But I think he might have hurt himself this time but since it's in more than one area I'm extra concerned. Could this be something more serious? My vet is closed for the night. Chat Icon

ETS: I just sent Dh to the animal hospital with him. Chat Icon

UPDATE: He had severe panceatitis. We could have lost him but he is doing very well now. We go in for subcutaneous fluids pretty much every day since flushing his system is the treatment and he has not been drinking so now he is doing much better. Thanks everyone. That was so scary. The muscle spasms were his reaction to the pain. Chat Icon

Actually yes. And they kept him over night on IVs and he was doing much better so we took him home last night (Friday) and this morning he's worse again. He's at the vet now. Chat Icon

Re: Muscle spasms

My dog has a similiar situation... once he starts to scratch his ear w/ his back paw he starts yelping b/c he can't stop himself. He was going into seizures, but now on a prednisone and doing better. He still has a bad back and will have a small twitch here and there, but the meds are helping. The Dr wanted to take him off and once they did he went right back into it so we keep him on the meds all the time. It's sooo sad when he cries.
