Re: My 13 month old has turned into a terror - pls. help
I have no patience for tantrums.
DS is removed from the situation. There is time out in the PNP and I explain why. I leave the room for a few seconds. Come back and ask him if he has calmed down. It usually works but it much easier at home.
Outside the house (like yesterday at the LICM when our time was up in the tot section and he wanted to do the slide for another 3 hours!) I just let him cry and keep doing what I am doing. I ignore his tantrums. Within a few seconds he is done.

Re: My 13 month old has turned into a terror - pls. help
We have had these same terrors come & go in phases. I'm not sure what causes it, but usually it stops after a week or so. Then DD is her happy self again for a week or so, then it starts up again. Everyone above had some great suggestions (especially Rachel ) I think I'll use some of them myself. What really drives us nuts is the WHINING. It cuts through us like a knife. DH really can't stand it. I think I'm more used to it.
ETA: We have started time-outs for when DD does something bad, like hitting us. Hopefully it's getting through to her - that seems to have stopped (for now.)
I hope your terror is gone soon and your sweet little boy comes back.
