My 1st bad mommy moment
So Katie sits up great we don't need to support her. Well, I have one of those changing tables that also is a dresser so on one side is the changing pad and the other is the wood part of the dresser.
She was sitting up and I was brushing her hair, getting her dressed. I was gently holding onto her bc she normally doesnt sit up there, usually lays down. I let go of her for a SECOND to get her shirt ready to put over her head and she flew herself back and wacked her head on the edge of the wood part
she only screamed for a minute them seemed fine but of course I am freaking out. How could I have been so stupid to let her sit up there and let go , even if for a second. I guess I just assumed she would be fine since she sits up on her own all the time on the floor and plays with her toys. From now on, laying down only on the changing table.

Accidents like that happen all the time! My DD was sitting on the dining room table and I was supporting her lightly, when I went to grab her toy and she fell back and smacked her head on the table! Don't worry! DD will be fine!! You are not a bad Mommy!!

Re: My 1st bad mommy moment
Oh D....don't you hate those feelings of WHY did I do this? How stupid could I be? I think that's what is worse and more painful than anything...that we caused something that hurt our babies. But we are human, and we do slip up....I think it's a hard reality to swallow that we can't be perfect and we will make mistakes here and there but it's not out of lack of concern for our babies. It's just human nature.
Keep an eye on her for the next 6 hrs and I am sure she will be fine. Did she stop crying quickly? How is she now?
Poor Katie and poor Mommy.

Re: My 1st bad mommy moment
I hope she is better! I have had a bad mommy moment myself ~ felt like such a jerk ~ how could I have thought to do that for even just a second ~ It made me extra careful now though! I hope your baby is better and mommy 2.... Don't beat yourself up too much ~ you are not a bad mommy!

Re: My 1st bad mommy moment
It's okay, we all have those moments where accidents happen.
I hit DS' head on the changing table at about 2 weeks old and then he recently rolled off the bed onto our bedroom floor!!!!
She'll be okay!
