My bf's dog was hit by a car this morning!
My bf's family's lab was hit by a car today and needed to be put to sleep.
They are so devastated, Lucy (the lab) was a great dog. Unfortunately she just ran out onto Bay Shore Road at the wrong time (probably distracted by kids at the bus stop) and was hurt too badly to ever be the same again.
Probably the worst part is that the Lucy was a gift to my bf's younger sister from their father, who passed away shortly afterward. The younger sister is beyond devastated.
I'm so sad for them, could you just keep them in your thoughts tonight?

That is a so devastating.. I am so sorry. Did he just get out by acccident or was he off the leash outside.. this is so upsetting to me.. It make you be extra careful with our precious babies.. i dont think I could handle that ever.. my prayers are with the family..

She usually just "does her business" in the front yard and my friend's mom watches her to make sure she doesn't wander away. But I guess she was distracted and it was just by chance that Lucy ran out into the street at that moment that the car came along. Her mom feels soooo bad and I can't imagine her guilt even though it really isn't her fault.
I said the same thing, that I was never going to let my Sofie off her leash outside again because I couldn't bear to have to go through that.

You certainly just taught me something.. The mother is the one I feel bad for.. Sophie is happy in heaven playing.. I am so so so sorry for his Mom.. I am sick for her,,

oh no...that is so sad sorry to hear that eta: this is why casey is never off the leash outside. don't trust her or the cars outside!
