My DD christening is on saturday and her godfather (my brother) is in the Hospital, what do I do??

I mean of course my first concern is that my brother is ok and getting the treatment he needs but what happens with the christening now?? Does someone just stand in his place??

P.S. Send some prayers please for my brother....they would be very much appreciated

I think you can have someone stand in for him, but he can still be put down as Godfather on her baptismal certificate. Call your church, they will tell you..

You can definitely have someone stand in for him - that person is a Proxy. BUT - you do need to call the church and tell them as there is a form that most likely needs to be filled out.

I used to work in a church rectory and that's what we had to give out if there was a Godparent by Proxy.
