Re: MY DOG ATE CHOCOLATE
What kind of pastries? If it was Dark chocolate or bakers chocolate I would say be NERVOUS. If it was a small amount like a choc. eclair that was just covered in choc. I wouldn't be to concerned. When Rudy was a puppy he ate half a package of Reeses pb cup mini's. He had the poops but was fine.
If it was a small dog I would say be concerned. I wouldn't go giving peroxide.
Did you call emergency vet in Westbury. 516-420-0000

I agree with Juney - if its milk chocolate, then its probalby fine but if its dark chocolate (less milk in it)
I would go to the vet ASAP - they can only help him if they pump his stomach. once's its digested there is nothing really they can do.
I hope he's feeling better soon!

Re: MY DOG ATE CHOCOLATE
If he ate four pieces of chocolate and weighs 56 pounds...I think you are okay. Watch him for vomiting or any other weird action, but that's not really enough to do any damage. Misty ate a bowl of Hershey's Miniatures while I was at work and she was fine. My friends Min-Pin ate an entire giant chocolate bunny and got sick that night. She took her to the vet and they kept the dog for observation, but she ended up just pooping it out.
Generally, they are okay unless they ingest a large amount.

I think on the ASPA website there is a # for animal poison control. you can call them. But maybe just keep an eye on her

Re: MY DOG ATE CHOCOLATE
Your dog should be fine. My 69lb rottie-mix at 3 boxes of russell stovers chocolate and had no problem. I found this on the internet:
The good news is that it takes, on average, a fairly large amount of theobromine 100-150 mg/kg to cause a toxic reaction. Although there are variables to consider like the individual sensitivity, animal size and chocolate concentration.
On average, Milk chocolate contains 44 mg of theobromine per oz. Semisweet chocolate contains 150mg/oz. Baker's chocolate 390mg/oz.
Using a dose of 100 mg/kg as the toxic dose it comes out roughly as: 1 ounce per 1 pound of body weight for Milk chocolate 1 ounce per 3 pounds of body weight for Semisweet chocolate 1 ounce per 9 pounds of body weight for Baker's chocolate.
So, for example, 2 oz. of Baker's chocolate can cause great risk to an 15 lb. dog. Yet, 2 oz. of Milk chocolate usually will only cause digestive problems

That will cost 55.00 and they don't always have the answer.

Re: MY DOG ATE CHOCOLATE
My 70 pound Golden ate a pound of chocolate and after calling the emergency vet, she had to go and get her stomach pumped. The vet said a hershey's kiss size per 5 pounds of pure solid chocolate.
