And for those of you who agree that getting rid of the dog is a bit drastic, thanks! It actually didn't even cross me or DHs mind to get rid of her. It was an unfortunate accident and I know better now. I hate that DS had to be hurt in the process, but I know to be more on top of the dog in the future.
I agree, giving the dog away is extremely drastic thing to do. Animals are just that, animals. If food is in front of their faces, they are going to try to grab it. The dog went for the treat, not the child. The child happened to be holding the treat. Thank you for being rational even though your DC was hurt.
