Re: my dog is having an allergic reaction....
well we gave him benadryl around 3:30 and it got a bit better....less red and less puffy. we gave him another benadryl about an hour ago because his eyes started to get puffy again. we're going to keep an eye on him over night and call the doctor in the morning if he's not better. We're just worred about his throat getting swollen and him having difficulty breathing. I can't imagine what having kids is going to be like

If at any point you think he's having trouble breathing PLEASE take him to the emergency vet.
Hope he's ok!!

Exactly--Make sure you know of one that's close by. They can give him a shot and it will work instantly

Re: my dog is having an allergic reaction....
Thanks for all your help. We woke up in the middle of the night and he had hives all over his body. He couldn't sleep because he was so uncomfortable. We had been giving him benadryl but he got sick to his stomach in the middle of the night. We ended up giving him half of a prednisone pill (as instructed by the emergency vet at 3am) and he was better quickly. Again, thanks for all your help.

I'm not sure what it was. The vet mentioned new carpet cleaner, new perfume. The only thing that was different is that he rode in my parents new car and my dad said the car has a really strong "new car" smell. I don't know if that would do it but that's the only thing that was out of the ordinary other then if he got bit by something.
