My experience with the Three day potty training method

My 3.5 had no interest in Potty training, but I was getting sick of changing diapers, and it was time!!!!

I started Monday. I had my DH home to watch my younger DS. I got him up in the morning and we threw out his pull ups and I put on underwear. He had three accidents that morning. Everytime he started to pee, I would rush him to put him on the potty. Tell him next time to keep him underwear dry and tell us when he had to go next. Well after the third accident, it clicked. He started going in by himself and going on his little frog potty. He even went poop in the potty the first day. He had and accident over night.

Day #2
He woke up and had two accidents that morning. I did exactly what I did the first day. Eventually it clicked and he didn't have another accident for the rest of the day. Had and accident at night. Went poop in potty as well.

Day #3
Woke up and decided he was going to hold his pee in. Wound up having and accident. The rest of the day was fine, and he went poo in potty. Accident again overnight.

Day #4
NO ACCIDENTS!! But he decided after he woke up he would just hold in his pee. He had to go so bad, but just didn't want to. He was pacing the house, holding himself, getting so hyper. I had super anxiety since I had no idea if he was going to have an accident at any time. He held it from 3am till 1230pm. He went fine rest of the day. The best part is he went to bathroom before going to bed, which he hadn't done. Plus he woke up at 1am and came to us saying he had to pee. No accidents overnight.
Day #5
No accidents, and not so much holding it in. Plus, he only uses the regular toliet now. He doesn't want anything to do with the little potty. I think that has to do with my friends little girl who is same age as DS. She came over and told him she uses the big toliet and only used the little potty when she was a baby.

I used a sticker chart. Everytime he went potty he got a sticker. The fifth sticker got him a prize. A cheapo toy or chocolate. The first and second day I gave him a few M&Ms everytime he went, but stopped that after third day. A poop in toliet got him a small toy right away. I have stopped that as of Day #5. He still wanted to use sticker chart today, so after 5 stickers I gave him something little to eat.
I only put him in underwear, no pull ups. I went in to his room at night and checked him. If he was wet I just changed everything. I had a change of clothes, sheets, wipes all out and ready to go. I put chucks under his sheets.

Hope this helps anyone looking to use this method. I can't believe how good he did. I will definetely use this method again on my younger son.

Re: My experience with the Three day potty training method

I stayed home for the first two days. The third day we needed to get out and went to my inlaws. No public places till today ( day 6). Asked to use the bathroom at target, but did nothing. This is day 3 of no accidents and best part no night time accidents. He finally got that he has to pee before bed. Plus no liquids 2 hours before helps alot. I can't believe how good he is doing. I'm so glad I didn't cave and put pull ups on him at night. I think he needed to learn. The fact that he came out of his room at 1am the other night to pee, shows me he can wake up if he needs to go.
My son does not have a very easy going personality and can be very difficult and stubborn. I really thought the whole thing would of took longer. I'm just hoping he doesn't regress.
