My hands are so numb, I can't take this carpal tunnel -anyone else?
The last two weeks carpal tunnel started for me. Well it's so bad now, I can barely sleep at night for more than 2-3 hrs without having to get up to shake my hands out, or just get up entirely. And the last two days, it's so bad, I can't barely hold a fork, cook,or evne type. Anyone else experience this? Anything we can do??? I don't know how I can go another 5 weeks like this and nothing has really bothered me this whole pg, but THIS is bad.

Re: My hands are so numb, I can't take this carpal tunnel -anyone else?
I occasionally woke up from numb/tingly hands. Over the past 2 weeks, I wake up several times per night b/c of my hands. It also takes a lot longer to completely regain feeling in them again.
I'm ok during the day, but my fingers are pretty swollen and I can't close them as easily. It's similar to the reaction my fingers have when I exercise and get overheated or when I go from cold weather into a warm room. I have no idea if there's anything we can do for this.

I bought carpal tunnel braces and wore them last night, but in my sleep I took them off. Even worse, the velco got stuck in my hair and yanked a chunk of my hair out
guess I didn't think they were comfortable in my sleep.

Have you mentioned it to your practitioner?? My sister went for accupuncture during her PG for carpal tunnel and she said it really helped!

Mine is getting pretty bad too, I've had to switch to the giant fat pens because I can't grip a normal pen anymore. Typing is interesting since I can't feel my fingers. The worst is definately at night, I have been getting alot of pain in my forearm and hands lately.
I just keep telling myself it's for a good cause and that if this the worst I have to deal with I am lucky ....not sure how long that thinking is going to help though

Have you mentioned it to your practitioner?? My sister went for accupuncture during her PG for carpal tunnel and she said it really helped! I did at only 30wks, but it wasn't bad. I will mention it at my 34 week visit. I don't see what else can be done though to help it. I don't know if I would do acupuncture at this point to be honest.

I would mention it to the Dr. Also, if you aren't comfortable with accupuncture you can try physical therapy they do a lot of work with people with carpel tunnel....... Unfortunately if its truly carpel tunnel it won't go right away after you deliver the baby and if you are having such a hard time using your hands I can imagine that it would be very difficult to take care of your

My Dr said it is PG induced Carpal Tunnel, the extra fluids are compressing the Carpal tunnel so it should go away after birth

Oh I know it will eventually go away but it can take anywhere from 2-10 weeks for excess swelling and edema to leave teh body after birth. Thats a lot of time to deal with that pain. It definitely sucks!

I feel your pain.... My sciatica and bulging disk issues won't go away until my uterus is almost back to normal size which can be up to 6 months after delivery
But it will all be well worth it in the end

Re: My hands are so numb, I can't take this carpal tunnel -anyone else?
I was hit with this pretty early on, prob around 20 weeks, and its getting worse. My fingertips are always numb, and my hands are too swollen too wear my wedding bands. At night, I can't close my hands or make a fist.
My doc recommended wrist braces to wear at night, and I finally bought them today. I'll let you know if it works.

Re: My hands are so numb, I can't take this carpal tunnel -anyone else?
I feel your pain!!!!
I have had carpel tunnel, since my second trimester. I don't even remember what week it was, it feels like I have had it forever.
It is not only annoying but sometimes very painful. I constantly have numbness and tingling in my hands.
When I sleep I always try to keep my hands elevated. My doctor recommended that I wear wrist braces. But, I never got them.
I just hope that it goes away after giving birth. I don't want it to interfer with holding my DC or even changing his diaper.

Re: My hands are so numb, I can't take this carpal tunnel -anyone else?
I had it with both pregnancies. I had to wear wrist guards at night. They helped tremendously. It completely went away after my first son was born. However, my 2nd son is now 4 mos old and I still have carpal tunnel this time around. Not that bad but it's there
