Your mom seems a little hard on you. You shouldn't let her get to you. Grandmas tend to be over the top on a lot of things in my experience.
i think you're right - she does make a lot of digs at my parenting choices. i wonder if her mother did this to her.

ds was sick for 8 days last month before i even called the ped.... i got some comments from people but dh and i are not run to the doctor people and determined that since it was just a cold it wasnt worth exposing him to everything else at the ped.... but many people thought we were crazy

That happened to me when dd was younger. I kept thinking everything was teething bc heck thats what everyone said. Sure enough, I took her to the Dr and it was an ear infection. You are certainly not a bad mother but go get it check. Better safe then sorry.

You are not a bad mom and you know you are not a bad mom.
We went through something similar with DD. Tried everything, went to get her, let her CIO, etc. Nothing was working.
Took her to the ped., her ears were clear, so medically therer was no reason she was waking up.
Took a while, but she eventually STTN again.
Hope it works out for the best for you.

i've posted about this before... and i know, i know, i need to call her on it. but when she says stuff like that i totally lose my nerve. i'm not sure why at all. i have a BIG mouth usually!

Even the peds don't know a child has an ear infection sometimes....
Look at what happened to my DD last week- brought her to the ped on a Thursday because she was running a slight fever and being irritable, they sent me on my way saying her ears were clearand THEY blamed teething ...Just 2 days later she was at 104 temp and almost ended up in the ER and found out the next morning she had a double ear infection  ...
So even had DS gone to the Dr. it very well may have been too soon to see it anyway...

My DD is on day 5 of her antibiotics and still isn't being quite herself, but is a million times better and the fever is thankfully history  ...Apparently from what I've been told about ear infections, is that they come on fast and furious...All these things we learn as parents , it never ends- LOL

I hear ya-it's easier said than done
As for the update-a lot of peds won't even put DC on antibiotics for an ear infection, at least not right away so you still did nothing wrong. Sometimes they like to let them try to fight them off naturally to avoid resistance to antibiotics.
None the less-I'm glad your DS will be doing better soon, I you feel better too.
