my peds wants me to put dd down on stomach to sleep ?

Okay my dd hates being on her tummy, she screams and puts her face straight down on the floor. My peds wants me to start putting her to bed on her tummy b/c shes got a flat spot. Im scared!!! He said as long as theirs no pillow and its flat she will be okay.

My question is I have my dds mattress covered with a quilted waterproof sheet, and then i put a reg. cotton sheet over that. Think the quilted waterproof sheet is okay to keep on, or should i remove it?

Problem with removing it is, shes used to it, i had one on her packplay when slept in there and took that off once and she wouldnt sleep until i put it back on.

Is the quilted sheet just like a mattress pad? I would think it is fine but I certainly do not want to be one to say it is okay and then something happens. Maybe you can start out slow and do it for half the night at first. I won't tell the Dr.

How old is your DD again?

IF you are not comfortable with it - and she's not comfortable sleeping on her belly yet - then don't do it.

Jack had the beginning of flathead. I had him sleep on his side. I got a sleep positioner and leaned him against that. We rotated sides every week.

ETA: Get the Noggin Nest. We had it - used it when he was in the bouncy, the stroller, or anything where he was laying flat. That helped so much also!

Its not a thick quilt sheet. It just makes it so when she moves around it doesnt make any of that crinkling noise.

well - at 2 months was when we noticed the flat head - I was a lunatic until 3 months. Or maybe it was from month 1-2. I can't remember now. All I know is that I did whatever I could for a month straight - and it helped out tremendously.

If your DD is like Jack - he was miserable on his stomach - until he wanted to be there. If I put him there - he had a fit. One day he rolled over - and never wanted to be on his back again!

I think you'll be fine as long as it is thin.

It should be fine...we have a quilted waterproof pad on the mattress covered by the cotton fitted sheet. DS has been sleeping on his belly since he was 3 months old and his not been a problem. Go with your gut though....

keep it thin and you should be fine. we have been keeping my DD on her belly and elevated for a while now she's 5 months on sunday due to reflux. But if DC really hated it try the side for a while and switch sides.

I think you will be fine. She is probably close to rolling over from her back and once she does that she will find her own position to sleep in anyway.

Can you try to start putting her down that way for naps? This way you can watch her until you are comfortable.
