My plan for work.
I'm 35 weeks. The commute to NYC is just getting to be to much for me, I'm exhausted all day and I'm ready to stop working.
I'm going to my boss on Monday and requesting my last day working be 8/10 and to use the sick and vacation time I've saved up. I have plenty of time saved to make it to due date - even after if necessary, until my maternity leave will kick in. (Baby has to be here for maternity leave to start.)
If I am denied the time (as I was earlier in my pregnancy when I asked for it) I will resign. DH and I both agree that this is what I should do. My health and my baby's health is my priority and I'm so tired I'm just not doing my job well anymore. I am pretty much planning on not coming back after maternity leave anyway.
I started asking my boss on Feb 16, when I was 12 weeks how my accounts will be covered, and when the plan will be in place. I STILL do not have an answer.
Am I out of my mind? Please let me know if you think I'm nuts.

I don't think you are out of your mind and can completely relate!!! I stopped working at the end of June and that was around the time I was 34 weeks. You have to do what is best for you. I really don't think they will deny you, BUT you may want to consider talking to your doctor to see if he can put you on leave early this way you can be paid. I'm not sure how your job works, but mine is paying me and I'm getting STD and will after the baby is born.
Good luck and I hope everything works out!

Re: My plan for work.
No. Your health and your baby's health should always come first. There are other jobs.
And I wouldn't worry about your accounts. It's your bosses fault for not thinking about how your work would be handled sooner. Really, at this point, you could deliver early, and he/she should have been ready with some plan by now.
Good luck, I hope you won't need to resign and can just start an early leave.

Re: My plan for work.
I think you're very smart. Remember that there is also disability.
I never thought about the possibility of being on bedrest at week 34 and was scared to death when they told me that. Since I have NO maternity leave, we freaked at first. But we calmed down and thought logically. I am very happy that I'm not still at work. I am more calm. Do what you need to do!!

Re: My plan for work.
Patti,
You definitely have to do what is best for you, your husband & the baby. It sounds like your boss is doing what he can to put you off.
I give you complete credit for traveling all the way into Manhattan, esp. in this heat at 35 wks pregnant!!! Pretty impressive!
Best of luck when you talk to your boss. If you need to resign, they'll always be other jobs, but not always time w/ your little one. Let us know what happens.

Re: My plan for work.
I would not resign.
I would go on STD and get FMLA. At least you would get paid. Then resign after you go back from maternity leave.
