My praying mantis babies were born!
I bought pods about 6 weeks ago that I put in my oregano plant.....I figured they were no good because it was taking so long. Thursday evening I noticed at least 50 babies hanging out on the the oregano leaves! They are SO TINY!
I'll take pics later!
Buh-buy aphids!!!!

I am so scared of them. They freak me out.
There was one that was by a house I used to have. It was about 5-6 inches long. I made a 10 ft detour to go into the house. 
I could never go in my veggie garden.

My mom did this last year and ended up with about 4 that hung around the whole summer. They were like pets by the end of the summer...so much so that my mom wanted to buy a tank and bring them in when the weather was going to change.

YAY!! I love them too. I had them on my lilies when I lived in Long Beach, every year.
The other day, I was watering the lilies that I dug up, potted, and brought with me to the new house. And I found a mantis!!
They are benevolent to us, eat bad bugs, what's not to love? I've picked them up with my hands before and didn't get attacked. 
I can't wait for pics! Put something next to them in the pics so we can see how little they are too.

I love them!!!!!
There's such a "unbug" quality to them..I can quite explain it. They seem almost intelligent...
Where did you get the pods?? My kids would love to do this.

I didn't have a chance to take pics today, I'll try tomorrow.
I got them at Agway. I've seen them for sale online but I never ordered them that way.
I'm hoping at least a handful decide to stick around. Last year I had one or two & I love seeing them.
I didn't get ladybugs this year, I usually do.

I love the praying mantis! We usually see 1 or 2 in our gardens every summer. We just saw a little one, about an inch long- so cute!
