My quick weather update (Update Fri afternoon-things changed)

I will truly update you tonight. This all depends on the track of the secondary Low that hasn't even formed yet. Try figuring that one out.

Update Thursday night:
Not much of an update to tell. Track is still uncertain. The good news is that most of what will fall will be Friday overnight into Saturday morning. So it's when most people won't be on the road. There's still a shot that it could go further south and not give LI too much snowfall.

But if it keeps on track right now, I'd say expect to wake up to about 3-4 inches of snow. I think you will be shocked to see the difference in snowfall totals across the area. (Area meaning the forecast area, which includes northern NJ, NYC, LI, Southern CT, and southern NY.) That's a lot of counties.

The way I look at it is: The closer you are to Philadelphia, the more snow you will get. Does this mean that Philly is the epicenter of the storm? No. I'm just trying to give you a gauge of how the snowfall will go.

Sorry I don't have my typical sarcastic forecast. It's just too uncertain right now. But I can say that if anybody goes by the forecast tonight and doesn't listen to how the storm track changes in the next 24 hours, you have no right to complain. Everyone is working hard, yet knows that there will always be b!tching. Chat Icon

Update Friday morning: May be the last update from me.
This is mainly discussing LI and NYC

First: Wait to see if the Watch for our area turns into an advisory. That would be good. (If it turns to a Warning, that would be bad, but highly unlikely now. Again, this is for LI and NYC. The areas under Warning in NJ are going to see lots of snow.)

Storm track is still a son of a b!tch. Why is this so difficult? The storm is packed so tightly that a difference of a shift of 30 miles will make a HUGE difference in snowfall. If you know someone that lives anywhere from 10-30 miles from you, check your snowfall against each other. You will be amazed how different they are.

Still expecting a few inches to fall overnight tonight. It's going to get windy, so visibility in ANY falling snowfall will be tough. What to expect tomorrow morning if you need to go to work? Give yourself some extra time to dust off your car.

This storm is amazing in the difference a few miles make. In a 30 mile diameter you could see one town with 1 inch of snow and another town with 12 inches. (Mainly, the southern town will get more and the northern town will have less.) So if you want to ask how nobody knows the exact point where it is going, (Because damn us if anybody is off 30 miles on a storm track.) then find me a sports guy that will give you an exact score of the Super Bowl right now. I will let the sports guy be one point off. And DAMN HIM if he is wrong! Chat Icon

Watch: Annoying, may be a bit difficult to travel, but doable
Advisory: Just give yourself more time to get to your destination
