My scary and not so relaxing weekend!
So after a hectic weekend with my family visiting, DH and I decided to take a short trip to his sister’s ski house in Vermont from Sun to Tuesday for a little R & R. What could be better than the beautiful Vermont mountains all to ourselves, right? No one around because it’s off season, and everyone getting ready to go back to school. A little hiking with the baby, some pool time, etc., just what we needed to unwind.
Well, let me tell you, R & R was not what we got. On Monday night we decided to go sit out on the 2nd floor deck as the sun was setting and have a couple of glasses of wine. DH takes DS outside with the bottle of wine. I follow with the glasses behind them and close the deck door. It starts to get a little chilly (down to 50 at night in Vermont) so I decide to get us some sweatshirts. I pull on the deck door and uh-oh, LOCKED. DH tugs, I try again, and again. Nope, LOCKED, outside with the baby, getting really cold, all of us in Tshirt and shorts, no cell phones, and NOT ONE PERSON in sight at the condo community. DH starts freaking out and trying to break the lock on the door and nothing.
I start screaming out into the woods “HELLLLLL –OOOOOOOOO”, hoping that someone will hear me. Nothing. We see a light at another condo about 3-4 buildings down so DH takes one of the sleds that is on the deck and throws it towards the condo hoping to make enough of a noise to get someone’s attention. Nothing. Meanwhile, I’m still screaming, hoping someone will hear me. Now it’s dark and an hour as passed, the whole time, me screaming “HELLO” and DH trying to break open the door on the window.
The whole time, we try to smile so we don’t frighten DS. DS thinking this is a game spends the whole time bellowing on the top of his lungs “HELLLLLLLL – LOOOOOOOOOO”. Thank god for that because it was so hysterical and funny and cute, that it kept us from killing each other.
Finally, I hear a voice answer back!!! Someone from the main resort at the base of the mountain heard us!!!! He followed my voice for 15 minutes, found us, we called the building management, who luckily had a spare key and someone came and let us in.
PHEW!!!! What a relief!!! But the best is my little boy, screaming “HELLLLLL-OOOOOOOOO”. OMG, if you would have seen how hysterical that was.
Needless to say, I am so happy to be back in NY!!!!!!
