My Sisters Keeper - The Movie vs The Book (spoilers)
I finally saw it last night and I was so disapointed. The book was 1000 times better IMO. I hated how it ended, and I didn't like how they left the whole Julia/Campbell storyline out.
I really think they should have kept with the original ending. It was so much more tragic, and really made the story.
Anyone else feel like I do?
Now, does this belong on Entertainment or Storyboard??

I may not even see it for this reason alone. The book was incredible! It's hard to come close to the original.

So Im assuming no one died in the end then? I didnt see, but dont plan to, I dont think the movie and that cast can ever do that book any justice.

There was never a car accident. Kate dies, not Anna.

I actually disliked that book because of the ending. It seemed so ridiculous and melodramatic to me.

I saw this too last night....HOLY CRY FEST I've never been in a theater that had women outwardly sobbing. It was crazy. ITA about the ending though. I read the book probably like 2 or 3 years ago so I didn't hold on to every detail, but the ending was def in my memory bank. My friend and I were quite disappointed that they changed it

OMG I agree about the ending of the book - just finished it and I actually rolled my eyes when that happened.
After such a great story, it was like she gave up at the end and just wanted to finish it!
Havent seen the movie, but probably won't until it comes out on DVD

Re: My Sisters Keeper - The Movie vs The Book (spoilers)
I loved the movie until the ending...The book was not done any justice because they didn't stick with the amazing ending from the book IMO! I will say I cried the entire time...full blown sobbing in parts. The ending of the book is the entire premise of the book.. Kate is really My Sister's Keeper...not Anna... Jodi Picoult should never have allowed this to happen!!!

Re: My Sisters Keeper - The Movie vs The Book (spoilers)
When I saw the trailer, I decided to read the book. I really enjoyed it, even though I sobbed like a baby at the end. I saw the movie got mixed reviews and I wasn't totally convinced that Cameron Diaz could pull off the role. I may just wait until it's on video to see it, I don't get many opportunities to get to the movies so I want to make sure I use it wisely.

Re: My Sisters Keeper - The Movie vs The Book (spoilers)
I read the book but I just couldnt accept the premise. While I understand wanting to be able to make your own medical decisions, I couldnt get past the fact that Anna's winning her legal battle could kill her sister (either delaying the operation too long or opting not to do it).
I have a sister and I'd do anything for her. Granted, I wasnt conceived to save her life - but still, I just couldnt get into the argument of the book.
I also agree with what others wrote - I found the ending to be melodramatic.

This story was in one of the magazines (red book or good housekeeping) that my mom had a long long time ago. before i heard of the book. (not sure if the article or the book came first tho or if the situation was just similar).

If you remember at the end of the book we find out that the legal battle wasn't Anna's idea at all. It was Kate's.
