My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
Well, my left is more swollen than the right. When I say swollen...they are so big that they actually go numb from time to time.
My friend said they looked more swollen than she has ever seen and that swelling is a sign of preclampsia. That made me nervous as well.
Do you think I am just having the final month of everything driving me nuts????

I would call your doctor just to be safe. It will make you feel better if nothing is wrong to hear it from the doctor and I know that swelling is a sign of preeclampsia. It's the numbness that would make me nervous.

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
My feet were swollen when I was pregnant with DD#1 who was born at the end of August. I had swollen feet for my whole 3rd trimester. I also have high blood pressure. My doctors just monitored my feet at every visit. I wasn't preeclampsic until 5 days before my due date, when my blood pressure was really high I was borderline preeclampsic so I was induced. Your feet can also be swollen just from the heat. I think the swolleness has to come along with high blood pressure to be a concern. My dr was more concerned about the blood presseure then swollen feet. I would call your doctor and in the meantime drink a ton of water and keep your feet up if you can.

My feet have been swollen like that for the last 3 months. Last night was especially bad, they were so swollen they burned to walk on them. DH called then my "treetrunks". I miss my skinny little ankles!! Drinking tons and tons of water and putting them up for a few hours helps.

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
MY OB told me that my feet and ankles will continue to be swollen and he was not worried about it. It sounds like you are worried and therefore, instead of driving yourself crazy, call the OB...at worse they can say come to ER to make sure...I think you will feel better if you do that, Just my Opinion though.

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
i've just started the third tri and the swelling started as soon as the humidity and heat got high. My right is more swollen than the left.
I know its not my blood pressure b/c thats always low; so i think its just normal retention for this stage.
if you are feeling numbness/pain, however, I would call your dr. anyway just to be safe. My girlfriend did tell me that she had that as well with the swelling..it wasnt anything bad..just bad swelling.

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
I'm 32 weeks along, just had a doc appointment on Wednesday and was told that swelling was normal at this point, especially in the heat, however uneven swelling and numbness are worth calling about. They are NOT a sure sign of an issue, but could be. I'm also not a worry wart but I just wanted to pass along what I was told in case it is something

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
My left foot is also more swollen than my right. My blood pressure and urine have been coming back ok, so my doctor doesn't seem too concerned about it.
But it's realy uncomfortable. I've been putting ice packs on my ankles at night. The past two days I've worn pants because I'm so embarrased of how swollen my feet are.

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
My feet just started to swell as well as the weather got hotter and more humid the past couple of weeks.
We went to a wedding today and I was sitting for the whole thing my feet hurt so bad and when I took my shoes off my feet were so swollen around the straps. Try to put your feet up as much as possible!

Re: My Swelling Feet are starting to scare me!
My feet over the past week have really become swollen & I was just at the OB on Friday. My BP & urine are fine. My OB said with the humidity lately & the ending of the pregnancy, it is common. I have had them elevated & sitting with ice packs as much as possible. The ice really does work...
