My Target Experience - LONG VENT!!!

ARGH!!! What a frustrating evening I've had!

I stopped on my way home from work to quickly pick up a few things at Target in College Point. Here's what happened:

They were out of 75 ft. Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil, which was on sale, so a very nice store worker told me I could get a rain check. No problem. I pick up the LAST package of 50 ft. heavy duty foil, b/c we're totally out.

I pick up a pack of pineapple cups, only to discover that one is open, and I have juice running down my arms. The worker standing right next to me doesn't react to my yelp of surprise. I tell him that there is an open package of pineapple and it got all over me. He removes the pineapple from the shelf, makes no move to help me or to get help to clean the floor.

I continue my shopping with sticky hands, pick up a few more things, and disgusted, pay, go wash my hands in the restroom and go to the counter for a raincheck.

The girl at the counter informs me that I have to go back to the item is supposed to be and find out the item number!!! I storm out of the store without a rain check.

I look for parking for 10 minutes, finally get upstairs, yell at DH for not picking up his cell phone b/c it's in his jacket pocket on vibrate, and proceed to tell him my Target story.

While telling the story and unpacking, I discover that over half my bottle of Windex leaked all over the bag, soaking the other products, including the tinfoil, which I remind you, was the LAST package!!!!

We get back in the car(with a great deal of expletives coming from my mouth), and head back to Target. We wait for a few minutes for a sign of intelligent life before someone comes to help us. I show the girl what happened, and she states that she can't read the receipt. NO SH*T SHERLOCK - it was in the bag with the windex!!!! Chat Icon She then asks if I paid by credit card, and I say yes. First she says good, then states that it wont' be in the system for 24 hours, so I will have to come back TOMORROW to get my refund! I tell her that there's no way I am coming back and demand to speak to a manager. Eventally, she manages to sort everything out without a manager, just giving me store credit, which I accepted. I finally got my rainchecks.

Now, it is time for dinner..and a large glass of wine!!!!

Re: My Target Experience - LONG VENT!!!

Now I love target but feel your pain... Twice they have forgot 2 give me all my packages.

I also bought their brand of mouthwash and the bottle had a slow leak and the bathroom vanity eventually got saturated. The bottom is slightly discolored from it. I will never buy their brand again.

Re: My Target Experience - LONG VENT!!!

Target is great for deals, and the one-stop shopping aspect, where you can get a shirt & cereal in the same store is great, but their customer service is TERRIBLE! My sympathies.

Actually, its pretty believeable, as su cky as it is, I live in Whitestone and go to that Target all the time. I walk out of there needing a xanax I swear!

Do you think the one in Rego Park is worse? Isnt that one closer to where you live?

It's definitely closer to me, but I commute from westchester and drive over the Whitestone bridge everyday, so it's easier to stop in College Point with my car.

ETA: had two big glasses of wine...very happy right now!

I've never been to the one in Whitestone, but trust me, Rego Park can't be any better.

Yeah you are right but I just pictured Jax driving back and forth from Forest Hills and I know the Rego Park one would be more convenient.

Yeah, seriously!

I go to the Rego Park one on the weekend, and the College Point/Whitestone one during the week. The Rego Park one is certainly no better!

Re: My Target Experience - LONG VENT!!!

I am so done with Target- especially with this new return policy- I get so many baby clothes from there with no gift reciepts. I used to love this store but I am over it all now.

I would call the customer service # and complain. After all that crap, you deserve something more than a refund.

I recently complained about the Brooklyn store about some snotty employees, felt good to get it off my chest.

Enjoy your wine. Chat Icon

I agree. when I am very unhappy with a service I always complain! I have received gift cards, checks in the mail, a pile of coupons, etc. it PAYS to comaplin! literally
