Re: My turn to ask for help/your opinions

When I was a kid, my family would host one year and then my uncle's family would host the next. That way every other year, we would get to stay with our loot and the next we'd go to my uncle's.

Honestly, I loved it. In the past 10 years, my eldest cousin had kids and wanted to have it at her house, so then rotated between my parents, my aunt and uncle and then my cousin. Now, my parents sold their house and I am pregnant. So, this year my cousin is hosting and next year, DH and I will. My uncle and my mom aren't going to do it anymore.

I think to rotate is the best compromise there are plenty of years for everyone to take it. I have wonderful memories of the holidays my house as well as wonderful memories at my uncle's.

You're asking the WRONG person because I'd let your sisters have it. As a child of divorce, I have had only ONE Christmas in my 28 years of life that I stayed in one place thanks to pneumonia. I've had most Christmas' that were in THREE houses. Was it annoying? Yes. Did I want to stay in one place? Yes, but I have really good memories of my holidays because through the divorce of my parents and remarriages, I've had happy holidays! I will admit that I look forward to holidays that I don't have to drive, but in all honesty, you gotta be flexible! Sorry, but they gotta grow up and compromise!

I can understand wanting to stay home with the kids... maybe you should suggest rotating houses each year?
