My visit to my parents ....vent
So this weekend we made the 5 hour trip to see my mom and step dad. Things started out great and then we went out to dinner. DS was fussy because it was well past his dinner time and even worse past his bed time. So my mom took him out of the highchair....now get this she leans forward and grabs her ice tea (NOT DECAF) and lets him drink it. I went ballistic. I explained that I didn't want DS having any kind of Caffiene or soda. She rolled her eyes and said "Well we put coke in your bottle when you were six months old. And you turned out fine." I wanted to yell "YEA THATS WHY I HAVE A CAFFIENE ADDICTION I HAVE THE HARDEST TIME TRYING TO GET RID OF!! NOT TO INCLUDE ALL THE DENTAL PROBLEMS I HAVE PRACTICALLY GONE BROKE TRYING TO FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I am so sorry. I feel for you. My MIL tried to feed my 7 month old son Diet Coke. DIET!! with all kinds of unnatural ingredients.

I can tell you were upset. But, in the long run I don't think it was such a terrible thing. Its not like she let him play in traffic.
In all honesty I bet you are more upset with her overstepping her boundaries rather than the iced tea.
Your son is by the way completely adorable!

It really bugs me when people just assume its fine to offer your child whatever they think is fine. while I don't think offering him some of her tea is anything that will really hurt him, I do understand being upset she did not ask you first if you were okay with him having some.
She really didn't put his health at risk and as hard as it is to see past what happened, please keep that in mind
