Nap Questions - Need Advice
Nick will be 4 months soon. My problem is not the actual nap itself, he is a GREAT napper.
It's the where. He LOVES LOVES LOVES his swing. Did I mention that he loves his swing? He is currently napping in it. We try to move him to the crib, but 20 minutes later he's crying. It's hard to get him to go down in the crib for naps too.
However, he will sleep all night in his crib.
I know he's too young for CIO, but any suggestions on how to get him napping in his crib?
Thanks!

I am a firm believer in "whatever works".
If he naps GREAT in his swing, then I would let him nap there. Why mess with a good thing?

I'm usually with that too. My concern is that I"m setting up bad habits and that he'll become a crappy napper

I think at that age I let him nap wherever he wanted - I remember him only napping in the swing for awhile. Then once he got sick of it - and wouldn't nap there - I put him in the crib

Re: Nap Questions - Need Advice
My son is almost 4 months and he always sleeps in his swing. We tried the crib and it didn't work.
So we're just going with the flow until he allows otherwise.

My DD would also only nap in her swing (she would also sleep in there for a few hours each night if we couldn't get her back down after her night time feeding). I had the same concerns as you, but now at 7 months she is very good at napping in her crib. She is hardly ever in her swing any more.

This makes me feel so much better! I think I read too much and make myself crazy!
Thanks ladies!

Re: Nap Questions - Need Advice
DD is 4 months and naps better in her swing, the car or even while we're out in her stroller. She's a "cat napper" while napping in her crib. Otherwise she's a very good sleeper thru the night. I'm not too worried about how she'll turn out napping wise later on. It works for now and I'm fine with it!

Re: Nap Questions - Need Advice
Elizabeth was a HUGE swing napper. Now at 9 months, she still won't nap in her crib but she'll nap in her stroller. When that doesn't work, we go for a drive.
I've never had an easy time getting her to nap. She likes the rocking motion.

Re: Nap Questions - Need Advice
Maybe let him fall asleep in the swing and then move him to the crib.
Also, try not turning the swing on.....just put him in it to fall asleep.
Or, try putting him in the crib on his side.....I did that with DD during the day because I could keep an eye on her.
