Naps - daycare and home

Ok so at daycare my DS will nap 1-2 hours at a time. They have them nap in a swing.

At home on the weekends, he naps in his crib. BUT - he typically won't nap more than 45minutes - 1hour Chat Icon

Does anyone else's kid do this? I don't know what I can do, if anything...

I'm not going to go and get a swing for him to nap in (he won't fit in the old one anymore)...I want him to nap in his crib.

Re: Naps - daycare and home

Yup! DD does the same thing. She takes 2 hour naps at daycare at 1:00 on the money. When she's home she falls asleep at 1 and stays asleep for a half hour at most. To top it off, she needs to be held or else she wakes up although she sleeps in her crib fine at night! I don't know how daycare does it!!

My son does the opposite and he is 2.5. He naps appx.1.5 hours in school and he'll nap a good 2-3 hours at home on the weekend.

DS is the same way. At daycare he'll nap for over 2 hours (in the swing too right now) but at home we'll get 1 hour - if we're lucky. And that is even if we put him in the swing.
I wish I knew how she does it!!!Chat Icon

I don't think she naps in the swing at school anymore ... three younger ones came in after her so I think they monopolize them!

In any case, home or at daycare, Ann is a completely inconsistent napper. Some days her sheet comes back that she took three 20 min naps, sometimes two 2 hour naps. At home on the weekends, I rarely get more than two naps out of her and they are never usually more than an hour. When my mom was just here this past weekend, she got her napping at least three times and at least one of them was two hours. Chat Icon

Re: Naps - daycare and home

DS is at my mom's 3 days a week, and is a horrible napper there. He sleeps 1/2 hour-45 mins once or twice a day those days.

At home, he's not great, but he'll do 3 30-45 mins naps in his crib pretty consistently.

omg funny you should post this- I was gonna post about the opposite with Riley. She sleeps fine at home- at least an hour at a time.

At daycare? I'm lucky if she gets two naps of a half hour each!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I feel bad because she is SO miserable when I pick her up.Chat Icon

Re: Naps - daycare and home

We are the opposite here...

DD does not nap at daycare (maybe 15-30 minutes in the swing)

But naps well at home.

Re: Naps - daycare and home

My DS naps better at daycare than at home. One thing that helps, though, is I generally try to put him down for a nap on the weekends at the same time they do at daycare.
